Avoiding Spiritual Overwhelm: Progressing “Line Upon Line” | BYU Women’s Conference, 2023
“Yes, I think as sisters whenever we see a needful thing, my mind-and probably yours does too-goes to the story of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. As we remember, Martha was cumbered about by many things and the Savior invited Martha to focus on the one needful thing. (See Luke 10:38-42) That doesn’t necessarily mean that we are only going to do one thing in our life, but the one needful thing would be to look-look to the Savior. Ask for His gifts, His inspiration, His spiritual gifts we need in the many things that we have to do today."-President Susan H. Porter

Sister Porter and Sister Browning-you are each wonderful! It is a wonder to me that you are “enough” because when I listen to you, I can’t get “enough”. Carry on!
Thank you very much for overcoming your overwhelming feeling that you couldn't do this talk! I just found it at a crucial moment of rest, I've been discovering and sharing that there isn't a beeline to the goal, that what I'm doing is enough, he's even taken over watering the garden, so that I can listen to this while enjoying my simple, good, abundant meal... I'm grateful for being nourished and taught, physically and spiritually!
So good! Grateful they have answered my prayers without knowing it. Also love Sister Browning's style. She is a woman after my own heart.
What phenomenal teaching moments
Thank you for inviting the spirit to witness to us of truth. Our Father in Heaven is so mindful of us as individuals, and Jesus Christ is the help we need in all circumstances, wether we realise it or not. He is the Only way! I am sharing this with some of fellow sisters who also need to hear this.💕Thanks from Australia, we are so blessed now to be able to also listen to talks given at BYU, although we are far.

Sister Porter is a lot more quiet, introverted, peaceful, observant, and bashful or shy than people realize who do not know her. It's incredible to me that she's been able to open up and serve for Jesus Christ, ministering over the sisters of His entire church, for decades! It reminds me of one of my most FAVORITE scriptures that's in book The Doctrine and Covenants Section 84 verse 88: And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.
