I had been an avid Kristi follower for just under a decade. Then COVID happened, and like many, including Kristi- I fell out of love with makeup, makeup tutorials, and consumerism as a whole. Kristi bought land, something we also did. It felt exciting as a viewer to be able to pivot in ideals/lifestyle with a once favorite content creator. But I slowly noticed Kristi on her homestead platforms started asking herself and followers, what she should do for money that’s in the realm of her homestead. Then content started to slow down, and her beauty channel content started to pick back up. Her click bait-y titles and topics. Because I had essentially outgrown her/her makeup content I didn’t realize she also has gone back on her vow and word on no longer using products that test on animals or that contain animal product. But apparently she’s ditched that, too. I 100% believe her continuing and “ignorantly” supporting James is nothing but for popularity sake, and to essentially further her career and overall likability for her presence in the beauty community. I think she got a huge slap in the face with reality when she saw her homestead channel wasn’t going to take off as quickly or pull the views she had grown comfortable with on her beauty channel. That’s my theory as a whole. As for being a mother, and supporting a monster… I hope people like her and Colleen realize they are enabling, supporting and creating an environment that can be detrimental to their own children. And it’s beyond sick and maddening to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and choose monetary gain over morals, ethics and the wellbeing over children… whether you’re a parent or not. But ESPECIALLY if you’re a parent.

This eye look is amazing! I have to say you're extending way too much grace to James & Kristi. James is an adult who got caught sending multiple minors inappropriate messages. He is lucky none of those parents pressed charges. HE even admitted that what he did was wrong. He keeps acting like everyone should just forgive him & forget. I personally think KZread shouldn't allow him to remain on this platform. It's gross that the Beauty Community gives people so much grace when they mess up in massive ways like James did. I get that you're hesitant about cancelling brands/people but sometimes they deserve to be cancelled! Kristi has a massive following & it doesn't look good for her brand to be supporting James. Even if she has decided to give him a second chance (as a person) it's going to affect her career to be seen supporting him so she should make a statement or a video distancing herself from him.

I feel like most of Kristi’s followers have really downplayed her support of JC (following and liking posts is support), which is their prerogative. But for me I am most turned off by her hypocrisy, she’s had no problem calling out family vloggers, Colleen Ballinger, and people who spank their kids as child abusers but JC is different. Although I’m not really concerned about it because I no longer follow her. But I unfollowed her awhile ago because I didn’t enjoy her content anymore.

She didn’t simply just like a pic. She promoted his new brand, Painted after calling out the 8 passengers and other groups for child abuse. JC is an admitted predator and it’s fairly known that he is.

As a mother I could never support someone that is inappropriate with minors.

I’m not a Kristi fan. I used to follow her, but I lost interest in her content around 2017. I think she did more than like a picture. I think she promoted his products. He’s an adult man who goes after underage boys. He’s a p*do and groomer. If he didn’t have a ton of money he’d be in prison. I hope his actions catch up to him one day and he ends up in prison. I don’t think she cares and still supports him because that’s her friend and the relationship can be financially lucrative for her. Most people will follow the money and turn a blind eye to ethics. I draw the line at messing with kids. I’ll unsubscribe from anyone who buys his products and promotes him. I think anyone who messes with kids should be cancelled and thrown in prison and people who support groomers need to be cancelled.

I try my best to try to think things through, but fall short many times - it was helpful talking through some of it during this video, though, and I’ve gotten so many comments that are helpful in giving me the full picture and more aspects of the situation to consider. Life is so complex! ☺️

I am not buying anything JC makes and anyone who supports him. Child sexual predators should not be supported and anyone who does, should be on a list. Their are so many deserving creators and brands to spend my money on! I unfollowed her a while ago and no plans to ever support her ever again. Adults should protect childrn and not prey on them. JC used his power and position to prey on young boys and this is unforgivable and he should be in prison!

They will not evenshow J* products on makeup releases that I follow on Instagram, but they post about JC, and that is crazy to me.

BTW, rbk actually called Peter and asked what she should do. She's very aware . She's done nothing. She's supporting an admitted predator. Personally if she speaks now or doesn't, really doesn't matter to me. Her priorities aren't the same as mine.

I really enjoy this type of video, as it is like listenening to a friend chat on! Love the eye look, plus the discussion of Kristi. I unfollowed her a long time ago.

As a clergy person, I get being a moral exemplar and “influencer” and am very careful in choosing my words and thoughtful about my actions, but I also live in constant fear of making a mistake that leads to being cancelled. I agree, that James Charles, an admitted predator, should be held accountable, but does liking his beauty brand an act that rises to the level of being shunned? Kristi probably doesn’t want to say anything because it turns out people, at least on the internet, are harder on those who publicly apologize than those who stay silent (Mikayla and mascara-gate is an example).

I think I understand what you are saying but don’t think it’s a 1:1 situation. You are in a role of expected outstanding moral behavior, he is not. I don’t think a lot of the KZread type influencers think about what they say and do the same way you do. As in, instead of not canceled they focus on what will profit/benefit me best. Most importantly JC should not have been simply cancelled. He should at least have stood trial for the “alleged” crimes that he ended up admitting to to be uncanceled. His moral compass and priorities are definitely questionable. I understand you saying liking a brand shouldn’t cause cancilation but it needs to still be acknowledge that when you buy/support/promote/etc a beauty brand you are supporting that brand owner and their business. Being supportive of his business brings him money and continues to diminish the consequences he truly feels from his actions. They always say put your mouth where your money is. This isn’t new. People would get shamed for supporting Jeffery Starrs company etc.

Interesting discussion. I think for me I don’t generally get so fully invested in a KZreadr that it affects me. If I don’t like their content I unfollow. If they give me consistently poor guidance on products, I unfollow. The minute I don’t find value in them or what they say, I unfollow. I don’t know enough about what RBK did to have an opinion yet. But, if I find she did something against my values…I’ll unfollow. Another great unedited video!!!! Doing great!!

P I like when you talk about real life

My oldest is 16 now but she's the only one that has ever done that to me when she was little I walked into her playing with her poop LOL

I think it's funny that RBK said she doesn't like drama but she jumped right in with the Jaclyn Hill lipsticks. She's quick to do videos about problematic people . Yet she is ride or die with James Charles. She needs to address it. I don't think she needs to apologize . I'm not quick to accept a forced apology. She does need to just talk about it. Own it . I haven't followed her in years. Simply because I outgrew her content. I thought she was above it. I guess not.

I feel it is best to try to avoid Drama and maybe that is what she is trying to do. But also can be seen as that if she is avoiding it then it isn't happening. I stopped following her a long time ago.

I don't follow "beauty influencers" because I i believe people want to think they're infallible. But they're not. I never followed RBC, I never even knew about her until the colourpop palette. I think its important people realize you need to follow your own moral compass. If someone you've been watching forever goes against what you believe then stop following them, don't buy their products, don't let them "influence" you anymore.

Just like building your house on rock, rather than sand.. I think that's the danger of banking your liveliness on things that are so fleeting, like your youth/body and fads as they will fade away. What's more dangerous is that many of the industries, where people do ride the fleeting wave, also compromise their mental health, values, relationships and ultimately their souls. The higher you go, the further you'll fall and 98% of all that glitters is fool's gold. I've always been a genuine person and appreciate the same in others. I've never felt a reason to sugar coat crap or hide anything. Now more than ever, we're seeing people who conduct themselves with any degree of integrity being persecuted just as fiercely as those accused of shameful crimes. So if I started a channel, it would have to be strictly for fun! 2 followers? cool 😆

Beautiful eye looks. As for RBC, supporting a groomer is never a good look. On social media every like, share, view, and comment translates to money and promotion. She should definitely talk about her stance but even if she doesn’t blocking and deleting comments and people gives a bad vibe. I don’t watch her or JC so for me it doesn’t matter. I just know that liking a picture indirectly shows support and with a big platform that can lead people to also support the groomer especially if they aren’t aware of the situation.

Personally, I don’t care who anyone follows. Influencers I watch on the internet aren’t my friends, they just help me with my makeup purchases. However there are a bunch of virtue bullies who care way too much about the lives of other. Drama channels certainly don’t help as the worst kinds of people often flock to their comments section and encourage the virtue bullying to continue. In my personal opinion Kristi did nothing wrong to anybody and this drama was started by a bored Peter Monn who’s currently going through “a new era” where he thinks being unbelievably judgmental is the strategy to more views. And the audience is definitely seal clapping and encouraging this type of behavior. I just think all of it is toxic and completely unfair. All Kristi did was like one post on Instagram from James Charles brand. And that warrants the drama channels labeling her a “predator protector”. No, this has nothing to do with holding people accountable and everything to do with necessitating content for those channels. I love makeup for makeup and I don’t think drama belongs in this space the way it previously has. If you don’t wanna support someone that’s totally fine. Just don’t go around bullying others for their choices. We’re all adults and should act like it. Anyways, don’t be surprised if Peter makes two or three hour long videos schooling you on how you’re wrong. He used to be really thoughtful and understanding but this last few months something switched in him. I really hope this whole situation doesn’t escalate into the “Dramaggedon 5” that the tea channels are hoping for. I just wanna enjoy watching makeup content for what it is. 😔

The only people that like James Charles are young teens. No adult does. Why can’t Kristi see that? I thought she was more mature than that.

I am often amazed at the views JC still gets on his videos - true, they’re not as big as he used to get…but that’s still a lot of people watching 😵‍💫

What’s even more bizarre in my opinion is that some people still support Michael Jackson and he actually shared his bed with little boys who weren’t related to him. I feel like the James Charles situation pales in comparison.

I am not well researched on Michael Jackson (my parents weren’t into his music so I didn’t know anything about him until my teens) but I do remember reading about his big house and how he’d have young kids (or maybe just boys, idk) over for sleepovers 😳 yikes….

What has Charles been charged of exactly? Having sexual relations with 15 years old? To me that's not a big deal. I had sex for the first time at 16 with a 21 year old boyfriend. A girl can have a baby after she gets her period which suggests that according to nature that is when she can have sex and get pregnant. I'm not saying she should but that biologically after puberty there is a reason why many become sexually active. It's not abnormal for a 15 year old to be sexually active like it or not. Where I live the age of consent is 16 years and 15 is mine as well be the same in some cases as this should be judged upon a person's maturity and not "legal" age. A 15 year old is not a young child. Until someone shows me proof that Charles raped someone or violated them I am not his jury or judge. Just saying the word "minor" is meaningless unless it's a prepubescent child and unless there was not consent.

There’s proof he was pressuring at least one younger boy into trying things when the boy didn’t want to. Gaslit him when he insisted. And there’s also the aspect that James a big celebrity and reaching out to fans who are much younger than him - there’s power imbalance there with the one being less “powerful” also being very very young. It’s a whole rabbit trail to fall down
