Overlooking is Trend in all Genres and I tried to help but I didn't give up just made my conclusion about me and my time because I see problems and questions about something that is made up so I decided to be totally honest and if I can help I will do it gladly but to recreate the problem just to see that it's on purpose... It's hard it takes years to become accepted ect. so I like when I find good, efficient Videos , Channels like this and only possibly is possible and that's a good thing and I have friends that I meet over comment and there's so much more but basic principles are to easy to be true so I see how people are becoming Horders or they are spending time with several Compressors trying to... Find receptie for Magic.😃 It's not a secret it Awareness so you can only understand and improve, learn and do what you wished for. Many friends have hung up their guitars as if they are done with music because there is no band, but that does not mean that there is no Music. There's always a solution and it's always a simple one but if one person is holding objectivity and knowledge and it's a person to who you can trust and that's in some turning point very important because we all have emotional variations and we all make mistakes but together people are talking and critique is the only way for Improvement together with Ideas. Everything else is basic Volume, Pan, EQ and choice of instrument and it's half way finished but we are social beings and it's easier when someone tells you what he thinks then to let you go, so it's Honesty and Trust that will always be something that is behind Big Artist. Behind The Curtains.

Please don't get me wrong because I agree with your opinion but why we are doing everything so slowly when instead we should be Freedom oriented so as example negative Polarity Phase can be FX designed for different feeling. Everything can be fixed in one File, let's say in Mastering Stage by duplicating that file so you have two identical Audio Files. On the one reverse Polarity Phase and now you can extrude specific Element or honestly you can fix everything even Clipping. My first professional fixing was for the sound of a successful Agriculturist who took loan from one big Bank. My friend forgot to turn Mic and he left with internal camera microphone only. It was mess , wind blowing guy is talking from several kilometers and the mechanicism in Camera was upfront. I fixed the nn couple of minutes and Commercial didn't have any complaining, critiques and I made it professional. I heard you talking about negative Polarity Phase but believe me as it can be a problem it's a solution if you stick to the principles of how Frequencies colliding in different scenarios and you can do so much more than fixing, you can do a filtering in a way that cannot be explained or understand by Listeners . And for the conclusion I would say that there's no mistakes if music is playing under the sky traveling through the Ether without any let's say our Resonances dilemmas. Under the open sky everything is natural, fantastic without common tasks we are doing to eliminate resonant tones and the whole aqustic is Free.

I would appreciate more info on how this works - what you describe initially sounds like creating a null (copying a track and then reversing the polarity), which is useful for detecting distortion, but I wasn't aware it had other uses. I certainly agree that there is no right or wrong when it comes to music - although as a mastering engineer I have a responsibility to follow a set of established rules of thumb based on psycho-acoustic principles to maximise the playability (and hopefully enjoyability) of artists' music - only to the extent that it still gels with their artistic vision, of course!

@@holosuitemastering yes , null and then any difference is making sound but in a different way by changing small amount in values. EQ with frequency you don't want it's two moves on encoder or a Fader, mouse and that's it. Everything can be separated and later cleaned out from bleedings and tails. . But as long music is authentic everything is good without going to Overcomplicating what should be a simple process. I have job to solve the Audio and from that time I know that everything can be fixed without " A.I. " & Spectral Shapers. I don't worry and I usually finish music in several recording takes. I think that it's more important to find workflow and rest is up to Art and Honesty. I don't stream towards perfection because I already did something I was trying and I want to be short but to explain that it's about people, connections, making new contacts and later listeners and if my colleague want to be Free I won't stop him in his interpretation of my Track or in Collab. That's the thing I want to say. Freedom and I am getting all positive vibes no matter if it is something mine or from other Artists. Only together we can do more.

Agreed - it's no secret that a good recording makes a good mix, which also makes a good master - although from personal experience it can take years to get a good sense of what a good recording sounds like - I think spectral and AI tools are there to help us bridge that gap until we develop that sense on our own. But of course at the end of the day it only matters whether you vibe with the song, no matter how "well" or "poorly" it was produced!

Wow. Thank you for sharing these tips with us. I’m going to try and implement these tips in my future releases, although I work dawless and direct to stereo these are things I can try and be more aware of while recording/creating soundscapes. Look forward to more insights 👍🏻

Thanks for watching! I guess if you're stuck recording down to stereo, at the least you could try and make it as reproducible as possible to allow you to re-record later down the track. But you'd be doing yourself such a big favour by setting up multitrack recording!

@@Ascsomsit will depend on what instrumentation you're using, and how many of them you have, but even a four-input usb interface would give you some options. You can find used ones for good prices - Focusrite and Presonus are the best budget brands. I particularly like MOTU, which is pricier but can also be found pretty cheap used on occasion - I found an old firewire MOTU Ultralite for a few hundred bucks that had 14 inputs - I just used a firewire to usb adapter and it served me well for years.

you wouldn't believe how many times i get ambient records to master that are super anti-phase. & then they will ask me to make it sound wider. which is a sign that there's nothing in the middle at all, or that they are using width to capture something not realizing width isn't the problem. so tip 2 is ESSENTIAL. however, i am actually a little less strict about this now because i think it's totally fine if the music goes just a bit anti-phase. as long as it doesn't chill there the whole time or go waaay out of phase.

Thanks for watching Angel! 😇 Yeah I make it clear to clients that it's not a deal breaker seeing as headphones/earbuds are the most common way people are listening these days. But as you put it - if you make things that wide it could be a sign that you need to up your production skills, so it's definitely something I hammer home when I'm doing mix coaching!

Tip 4 is something I haven't thought of yet, though it's kind of weird because when I was a total beginner I would mix too loud AND my mixes were too bright... not pleasant lmao. Maybe it would be good to occasionally check how it sounds volume settings than I usually use to get more perspective (especially for transients but thats another topic), but I really need to eradicate the habit of fiddling with my volume settings instead of actually controlling the dynamics and leveling of the sound lmao, I still occasionally do that by accident, and as a consequence hearing dynamics is my weakest point in listening skills.

Ouch that sounds painful! Definitely keeping a constant listening level has been one of the most important factors for me in terms of leveling up my skills. My brain has locked into what a balanced and decently dynamic mix sounds like at that volume, so I can quickly tell what's off when I listen to something new. If you work through your whole production process that way, it'll set you up to win in terms of getting the dynamics right from the very start.

Maybe add examples to these videos of doing things wrong and right wat? You know, "show, dont tell."

Thanks for watching! I definitely support that idea and want to be able to show everything. I do try and put some b-roll in every video, it just takes a lot of time and planning to do it, and I don't have a lot of time! 😅 Perhaps I should just aim for one detailed video every two weeks, rather than one less detailed video every week. What do you think?
