Avoid Droplets And Other Tips For Shooting Split Levels
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Matthew and Alex talk split levels. This episode came about because we were asked about avoiding droplets in split level images. But actually the boys dive into the whole topic of split level shooting, a topic Alex knows well as it is often a lesson on his workshops. This is the 39th episode of The Underwater Photography Show.

There are some lovely photos of me and the "potatoes" in this episode. 😆
Love these practical tips! Please do more split level episodes!
Another great video guys and thanks. I love over under shots. I also love the tip on putting some tape or a mid-line marker on the back of the housing for gauging where you are in terms of above or below water level. I will give that a try right away. happy diving and shooting to all!
thx for the ideas!
Shooting vertical helped me quite a bit as it was easier to fill the frame with bigger side of the sensor.
Love to see that “new video” notification! 😃
I've tried lemon pledge, potatoes, and rain-x and have had the best results with rain-x. I don't own the OM1 Mark 2 but the built in grad filter interests me however I believe it is only usable through the touch screen. If it was selectable and adjustable through buttons that would be useful.

i believe it isn't compatible with flash either if i recall correctly :/ which may not matter in certain circumstances but could be an issue sometimes
Thanks guys, another great video! Do you know why baby shampoo instead of other shampoos?

So it doesn't burn your eyes when you put it in your mask
The advise about not using Rainex is that there are a variety of Rainex products. Don't use Rainex for glass on your acrylic dome. Rainex for plastic is perfectly fine.

Thank you - very useful for me and for others too!
Flat calm or small ripples in the water? Which do you think has great appeal?

I think it depends on the subject matter. I think with really full/busy content above and below the surface then flat calm. But when the above or below part is a little weak, then an interesting surface can really contribute to the shot. You can generate a more interesting surface in flat water (like a pool) by panning the camera while shooting, which creates a wave across the dome.
