Question, can I use antibacterial dishwash soap for my antirad glasses?

There are many different types of microfiber cloths and some are a little bit scratchy so it has to be specifically a cloth meant for cleaning glasses

Finally someone that gives out correct advise. I hate when people say to use soap or alcohol to clean glasses, it DESTROYS the coating on the lenses!

And furthermore, how long is that coating expected to last in the first place? Even assuming they were maintained with the utmost of care, surely the coating is not expected to last for the lifetime of the glasses?

@@misssummersalt trying to belittle someone doesnt suit you. If the coating is already destroyed you can of course continue to use soap or whatever. My og comment is about preventing it in the first place lol

@@misssummersalt a person normally buys new glasses every couple years or so, most coatings last around 2 years-ish. You can however send them in to get a new coating if you dont want to buy new glasses

If you rinse with only warm water the debris will not rinse off and if you use the cloth made for classes can still scratch the lense I use a small amount of dawn dish soap after rinsing and rub lightly with my fingers. Not only the debris come off but oils from finger prints too

I get the washing part but what about the algae that gets stuck between the frames? 😢 (I don't wanna mess with my lens by pushing it in and out, myself)

I use a tiny amount of dish liquid… make sure you rinse well and a clean old t shirt to dry…. Never a problem!

T-shirt!? Everytime I've done a T-shirt my lenses always got scratched up. I use my special glasses cloth only now 😅

I use a laundry steamer to "refresh" my curly hair in the morning so the steamer is always in the bathroom. I use the steam as well for cleaning my glasses and the mirrors. 😇

The steam (heat) will warp your frames, and destroy the lens coatings.

Mines have and all I've ever used is water and keep so many (microfiber) glasses towels i often find 2 in the same pockets lol edit: honestly i think the oils on my face are to blame since they're worn around my nose and cheek areas where they rest.

Glasses also used to be made with glass, (their actual name) not plastic. Which wasn't so easily scratched

In order for that micro fabric to work is to have clean hands otherwise the oil from hands gets on the fabric and smears the lens. I think the best way is the wipes.

They have scratched my glasses every time I've cleaned them. Had them a week. Many scratches

I do all of that and I've only had my glasses for a week and they've scratched every single time I have cleaned them

yeah, I wish I would’ve known this a few years ago because I feel like the vinegar and Windex I used on my glasses, took off some of the coating.

Just here to say I completely agree!! I use the Koala Clean kit from Amazon (it comes with little microfiber cloths & is amazing) 🤓

I tried exactly that I even used a non moisturizing dish soap like it says and all my glasses were left with white spots which could be a number of things.

Same but it’s annoying doing every 1-3 days so I just let glasses get dirty asf for many days

I was an optician for ten years and I had so many people come in with glasses so scratched they could barely see through them. I asked one person how they were cleaning them and they said I'm just using Simple Green so I don't understand what happened. Well, you practically tried to melt your lenses.

Great video as I just spent 500.00 on a pair. They trans lense so the cheap ones online never get them right.

I use sand papers. Work all the time.

HandWash microfibre cloth from time to time in your sink, or get new one, dirt on cloth will scratch glasses! Per my eye dr.

Ive been using liquid hand soap, and remove it with water. Works like a charm. It damages nothing.

For over three years I have cleaned my glasses first with warm running water, Dawn power wash, rub the lenses between my fingers, rinse in warm water and dry them with the same micro fiber towel that I wash about every two weeks. Not a single scratch on either lens.

I used dove unscented hand soap, then compressed air to dry.

I'm never getting that "optional" pay extra anti-glare junk again on my glasses....it ruined them. Saw some videos on how to take that dumb stuff off, and it did, but the optometrist should tell you that heat causes the crazing. I only wear them to drive at night so they stay in the car...where it's very hot in summer. 😢

How did you get rid of the anti glare on glasses?

I had the cloth that you are talking about with my glasses when I bought it but I didn't know where to use the cloth on Thanks doc❤.

And additional make sure the fibre cloth are always clean and don't just put it somewhere keep it safe like a box far from dust debris.

What about paper towel for plastic. I was told it’s ok. I think glasses are stronger. Therefore will scratch plastic as well!
