Your Rajnikanth also killed our Vishnuvardhan's acting by remaking Apthamithra into Chandramukhi. His acting in chandramukhi is no way near our Vishnu's acting. Scores are settled and we are even. (I know, Apthamitra is also a remake of manichitrataal). But apthamitra came in 2004. Chandramukhi next year.

With all respect and love to Vishnuvardhan Sir... I am his fan.. But this movie sucks... Not even 0.01 % Comparison can be made with Baasha... Lacks that Mass feel... Shouldn’t have been remade at the first place.. Rajni and Raghuvaran’s combo was just diff level... Should blame the director only... And ya before any one can comment ... Vishnu dada had defined what is called Acting in Nagarahavu. No one can touch him in performances like those.

I completely disagree. Vishnu sir himself is mass. He doesn't need to do something there. Secondly his acting has an inbuilt swag and style in itself. Infact baasha itself was a remake of Amitabh's Hum. Thirdly, vishnu sir gave the right expressions in the film. There's a scene where rajini comes and meets the commissioner for his brother's police job. Rajini expression is completely wrong. He has to act as if he doesn't knw anything and as an auto driver. When he walks towards the table he should have a calm face.. But see rajini, he had an angry face. There's nothing to be angry abt... Vishnu sir has a calm face.. While waking towards the table. See, that's where Vishnu sirs Acting prowess doesn't go unnoticed. There are many such wrong expressions by rajini. That's why Vishnu sir stands special.

@@nishanthakash Sorry.. I'm a Kannadiga.. Vishnu sir is a legend. But this movie sucks. I know this comment would hurt all Vishnu sir's fans. But it's the truth. I love so many movies of Vishnu sir, not this simply because I hv watched the tamil version in theatres when it was released in 1995 before the kannada version. They should hv rewritten to suit Vishnu sir's style. Hum was a very big flop in Hindi. The screenplay was totally rewritten for rajini by director Suresh krishna ..Rajinis acting, style, punch n swagger made this a landmark movie in Rajinis career. The story u r seeing right now was written only forRajini in mind. Raghuvaran played his role brilliantly. Including the side actors. As rightly pointed out, this movie should not have been remade with the screenplay that was done for Rajini. They should have changed it to suit Vishnu sir's style. True film buffs know what kind of impact Baasha created. Many more movies were made in this genre after Baasha. Only after Baasha, rajini became a strong political force in tamil nadu till today so much that he could swing voter sentiments. Such was the power of the movie.baasha... Baasha was not just a movie. It impacted everyones life in tamil nadu including kannadiga s like me who were living in Chennai at that time. With due respect to Vishnu sir, this screenplay was not for Him. It's technically lacking on so many fronts. Nishkarsha, nagarahaavu, apthamitra are all legendary films. But not kottigobba.

It doesn't matter what ur opinion is boss. It was a huge hit. I would have agreed if the film had flopped.. Coz that would have confirmed that it didn't suit vishnu sir or fans didn't like it. Fans loved him and the film as a super hit.. Now don't insult the people of the state for liking the film by saying it didn't suit him
