Bulk Edit is a great new feature I'm really happy with, but I think it could need a few improvments to make it more useful. The one thing I'm missing the most is the option to modify current values. Two examples: - remove the last 3 digits of the current name - search and replace strings in the current name (e.g "Copy.01") I hope this is something Avid is working on to make this great new feature more powerful and save us editors a lot of tedious work!

Discovered that you can do "Find and Replace" in Avid. So you can just search for Copy.01 and replace it with nothingness and it will delete all instances.

How do you bulk remove ONLY .new and or .copy? If Name column is perfect aside from .NEW or .COPY, sometimes you do not have ALE with the additional Column to re-build the Name column a particular way.

Use the search and replace. Feels like I should be able to do this under bulk edit.

It is no longer necessary to import to DNxHD?

I think it’s best practice to AMA link and then transcode or consolidate into the avid media files system. You can transcode to mxf op1a or op atom now, instead of just op atom. Linking and transcoding is better than the old importing. You can just AMA link though, but how well it works whilst editing varies, depending on the material and how complex the edit.

I think that Avid is making editing work more complicated with each new update. what they are going to achieve is for the industry to switch to ADOBE.
