www.djsounds.com/07/12/avicii-presents-the-djm-350-cdj-350-part-4-the-cdj-350-bpm-lock/
Sit tight as Avicii guides us through the brand new 350 series, comprising of the CDJ-350 and DJM-350.
In this five part series, he highlights all the major features and functions of this compact set-up which sits perfectly in your studio at home, in a small bar or at your friend's house party.
In this fourth part, Avicii shows us how simple the CDJ-350s make beat matching with our incredible new BPM lock function. Watch as Avicii shows us how to set the BPM automatically on each player and perform a perfect beat mix without headphones!
We first came across Avicii last summer when we interviewed him in Stockholm. Already bubbling under at the time, he has since blown the roof off electro with a slew of his own releases and killer remixes and a summer residency supporting Tiesto at Privilege in Ibiza. All while only 20 years old. With support from the Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta and Pete Tong, you know Avicii is going to go far.
Remember to check out the other four parts in the series.

I'm really thinking about getting this, though I wouldn't use the bpm lock. As a matter of fact I actually never look at the bpm counters when I DJ. In the end this setup is for bedroom use, so you're the only one who's going to judge you there. If you don't use it, you know it yourself, and everything's ok.

All of you saying that a DJ is not supposed to beatmatch are idiots. If you can't beatmatch, you can't play a dj set, you're just doing a dj selector. Renowned djs made the term known for everyone because of their skills and creativity with simply vinyls, turntables, and no effects. Read about Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Fumiya Tanaka, Laurent Garnier, Dj QBert, A-Trak. Come on people, Did you really think that the guy behind his laptop playing DP's Get Lucky and Rihanna every saturday night was a dj. He's a night entertainer, entertaining you with the songs you like most on Spotify. High End djs will play songs that you have never heard of and probably won't ever remember anyways if someone told you. In the end, when the set is bigger than the tracks, guess what, you are listening to a dj.

Like he says, it's ridiculously easy. I will still learn it the old way to start and only use the bpm-lock in real sets

every set iv done recently has been with the 1000 mk3's, and every time I've played I've been on the verge of collapsing due to a massive increase in serotonin levels and alcohol abuse, so this feature would be great for times like that but. I plan to play sober next time :)

The CDJ 350 still has pitch control and you can adjust the platter, so if you are hating the bpm lock, just three words: Don't use it! One has to embrace technology and a good DJ shouldn't feel threatened at all by this kind of features.

Dj's are there to play music not beatmatch. You Dj how you like and how you feel will get the crowd moving the most. A Dj's job is to make people move, it doesn't matter how they do it..

You guys need to check out Laid Back Luke's sets. He's the perfect example of what other simple set mixing Dj's may be able to do if they don't have to worry about their tracks staying in sync. Beatmatching is so second nature and basic to us Dj's. I would love to concentrate the rest of my brain power on creativity and not + and - ing the pitch.

@xicot86 yeah, and so many who use ableton or traktor like Sasha or Rychie Hawtin isn't a DJ. This function gives you freedom, and if yyou want to do something crazy, like mixing 2-3 or even 4 track at the same time, and IF you are thinking about the croud if you mess up, i think then autosync comes in very handy. If you think that it's hard or essential to being a dj, man you really have to get out more. And heres a little secret: the crowd don't care how you play, they DO care what you play.

This doesn't kill Djing... If a Dj is good he will use the tools right and it will be known. I used to think that way too. Infect I used to be all for vinyl turntables and now I'm falling in love with CDJ's. Technology is the Dj's friend those who ARE Dj's understand this. The equipment doesnt make the Dj...

@erkrathnetde Yeah I know what you mean and you are true! But it´s more for the people like who worked for it etc. They think like wtf!? Cause normally it cost time and work into it to become a DJ. And now everyone can with a good pare of turntables and mixers... If you know what I mean

So, if you move the fader and look at the CDJ screen until the BPM is 130, or you dial a knob to set the BPM to 130 makes or brakes you as a DJ? Those people whining about MIDI, new functions on CDJ etc, they should buy a pair of TT's + a 2 channel mixer without EQ and go fuck that set-up in their basement. Just my opinion ;)

The essence of djaying is entertaining the crowd, regardless of the method... This is actually helping organizing songs for efficient storing of tracks, and this way no track is missed.. This is very very handy, not only for club djs but also for wedding djs. No more: - I left the cd at a gig - there is another awesome track on this disc, and i have no copy of this disc so we have to wait. - I lost the cd - the cd is scratched badly think of the advantages of this technology. fuck the synch

I agree with everyone that this is taking away the essence of djing etc, but on the other hand if the dj doesnt have to spend most of his time beatmatching they can focus on being more experimental in other areas and making more interesting mixes and remixing etc!

I got a pair of technics sl1210mk2 at home (but my mixer is broken, and my mixing skills are bad, realy bad. Yeah Im one of the most crappiest dj in this world, but at least I try and I dont cheat). Avicii can you make an introduction video how to use sl1210mk2? Using BPM-lock or what you now call it is just cheating!

I was going to say something about, "oh, wait avicii can't awnser because he fucking killed himself" but I thought that would be to cruel and disrespectful to his friends and family. And in my opinion yes I'm a better DJ than those muppets that use autosync, BPM-lock or posers like these kzread.info/dash/bejne/noCY2a6DYNCtorQ.html . I am way better than those to wave my arms in the air and play air guitar! But that is not what DJ is about, a DJ spinns recods, has mad skills and passion about what he or she do. So read my original message one more time and after that we can have a serous conversation.

If u use cdj's at all you cheating, you should go back to vinyl and a old school Gemini mixer with no effects at all and pay for all those records, , sounds stupid doesn't it, so why not move on from cdj's to software .
