Aviation Ramstein | E-8, C-5, KC-10, C-27, Paratrooper | Highlights
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Dear friends,
this video was recorded at Ramstein Air Base. Sometimes we used two different camera perspectives. The traffic here can be really nice or really boring! Sometimes you even get days with no movements. But mostly you have good days with a lot of traffic and exercises as para jumps from a C-130J Super Hercules
Some highlights:
- Both USAF C-5M Super Galaxy take-offs - in the morning and evening.
- USAF KC-10A Extender performing a very crazy landing "on each wheel"!
- USAF Boeing C-17A Globemaster II landing during strong crosswinds with shaking engines
- USMC KC-130J, with a special black tail, shaking and moving in strong wind!
- USAF E-8C Joint STARS with the old P&W JT3D engines starting a new mission!
- Ramstein based C-130J Super Hercules performing paratrooper actions and touch & go
- Romanian Air Force C-27J Spartan looks a bit funny in my opinion!
- RCAF CC-177A performing an impressive landing
- MC-130J Commando II performing a nice approach but a hard touchdown with shaking wings after arriving from Romania!

@@caseymetzger1473 I can only assume. I see the same thing even on smaller aircraft, but these behemoths have always astounded me. It was great to watch the An-124 get loaded with 3 helicopters and a bunch of seacans right up close. Took longer to refuel than it did to load. I imagine at smaller airports the C-5 takes quite some time to refuel as well.
US military brat here, with a father who woke me up in the middle of the night to watch A-10's and F-15's (early 90s) land in the middle of a winters night in northern japan, among other aircraft... this is amazing!, and like others said.. incredible images. i thank him a lot for instilling a love for aviation, and thank you for this upload. cheers everyone.

The sound of that E-8C as it passed over brought a chill to my spine and revived many vivid memories from my childhood. We lived under a flight path growing up in the 70's & 80's and would frequently have DC-8's & 707's roar over our neighbourhood on their takeoff climb-out at a couple of thousand feet. The beautiful combination of that roaring buzz-saw growl on approach followed by the deafening compressor scream of the four thundering JT3D's as the aircraft passed directly overhead billowing a trail of black smoke behind it as the house window panes rattled in their frames is an experience like no other, and one I sorely miss to this day!
I went tdy to Ramstein in '82. When a C-5A flew over making it's approach everyone on the street stopped and stared. I'll never forget it.

I've worked in aviation for 30 years and understand aerodynamics quite well. Every time I see this plane, I just can't believe that it's actually able to fly.
Cargo planes are some of my favorites. Absolutely stunning.
Was there 81-84 as a brat. Pops worked at HQ USAFE... and was also a C5 driver. Lived in Bldg 1115... which I believe is no longer there. Worked one summer for CE. Got to watch F4's take off from the end of the run way. Right up there with Top Fuel dragsters leaving the starting line.
Got to love those Lockheed C-5 Galaxys. Superb planes...
Worked on the C-5 A,B, and C models as well as the KC-10A over 20 years ago. I can still tell you how to do nearly all of my jobs on that C-5!
Has to be THE BEST approach and landing video on YT. Fantastic video capture/angles and editing. Really appreciate video content like this.

That's really impressive filming of the C-130 with D-Day paint scheme doing the paratroop drop.
Just wanted to say "thanks" for an awesome video. I was stationed at Sembach AB in the early 1990s and spent MANY long days on Ramstein's flightline loading C5's. Got to hear them scream (old TF39 engines). But, the best part was when they were on approach and "hanging" in the sky over Sembach...loved looking up and seeing/hearing them throttle up/down on approach. Cheers!
So cool seeing one of our birds (00172)! It's so wild to see aircraft from my home town pop up on KZread!

Amazing. I do miss the tf39s. They were absolutely monstrous
Whenever I see an airplane or a helicopter take off it still looks like magic for me. Like an illusion. The ability to fly has something magical despite us being able to fly now for over 100 years. Impressive quality by the way. :D

* * * * * Again, my German friend, you have provided me a most wonderful show. I thank-you so very much for the superb work you did on this video. Although I spent a career in the US Army, I had never viewed these wonderful aircraft from the angle you captured them. You most definitely had great lighting for this video. Since I retired from the Army 25 years ago, I am surprised at the updated variants of the aircraft you captured. They most certainly have had many modifications since then. I was surprised that the paratroopers who jumped out of the C-130 did not use both doors. I stopped counting my military parachute jumps when I reached 200, but every one of them out of a C-130 had us exiting out of both doors. The most striking difference I saw was between the C-5A when I was on active duty and the C-5M, Super Galaxy. The improved engines are so much quieter than the original ones, which were so loud that I could hear them takeoff from 16 km (10 miles) away. I cannot decide which aircraft I enjoyed viewing the most, since all of those which you videoed were excellently done. Please keep up the excellent work, and as always, I am looking forward to your next video. I also hope you enjoy my attempt to write in German. I can always quit if I am not writing well, and my German is distracting.

Thank you so much my friend! You had such a great career and your German is also very good! Luckily we have the 37th Airlift Squadron which is based here at Ramstein and the C-130J's are doing exercises regulary. As you already said the USAF did a lot of updates recently like replacing the old C-5A/B TF33 engines to the newer F138 engines and new C-130' versions. Glad to hear that you heard the older versions of the Galaxies. The C-5A/B Sound was just amazing, that noice while departure or arrival was just awesome, sadly I never heard them in real life.
