Gotta say BIS im loving this series. Not really playing the game much atm so its nice to have this fix when you do the vids. Esp the modded ones as im on playstation so can use the mods myself
My theory on why the rotated aviary works is that it just looks at the ground area. In lagoons, it doesn't matter where the lagoon is placed because they don't have collision, but the pterosaurs collide with the ground, they need to just have boundaries and not a rotational axis.

I think they will support Jurassic world Evolution 2 until the end of next year since next year will be the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park. And I think they'll want to release an expansion and I even suggested the Los Cinco MUERTES expansion. Reintroducing the five deaths into Jurassic world Evolution 2 with Isla Sorna being the largest map of the five deaths similar to the Nublar of 2015 but with an entire redwoods map.
Seeing them fly around in the open like this is so cool! So happy what you were trying to do worked! It's going to be very fun to walk around here on the tour~
I don’t know if it’s possible with the terrain tools since it would be finicky but you could maybe try recreate the JP3 aviary by making tall thin hills with a stone texture
