It seems that Avi has taken that deep emotion that he always puts in his music and focused it so sharply it almost cuts. This magnificent piece no doubt will be interpreted over and over according to whoever hears it. I believe we are looking at a piece of genius.

Yes. The music, for me, is much more personal and mature from modern pop. That is not a slight against pop, just toatly different styles. None of his songs have been about love, dating, being left, etc. They take on different topics, which I personally appreciate, as an older fan. (Oh, behinds, Tanya, and OLD ASS Fan heh)

BakenDailey I thought sweetadaline was his? Anyhow, it's not that you can't talk about love....love matters to all of us, even old farts. It's that pop music is focused mostly on relationships, ormdancing, partying. And there is totally nothing less important about that...it's just not where *I* am, so I don't connect to it as much as songs about other things like spirituality, death, freedom, fear, etc. The kind of lyric driven songs I find in folk, for example. But again, please do not read this as one is "better than" another. Just different. :). Romance novels vs. mystery novels. :)

Avi has such a warm, deep and masculine voice. He added so much to Pentatonix but leaving the group has unleashed so much talent! Can never get enough of his voice.

Not really. When he left they had a discussion on video about it. He said flat out that PTX was moving too fast for him to keep up. He felt he needed to step down to spend more time at home with family and let PTX continue their fast on the move pace they've built for themselves. They never stopped him from shining, it's just that most of the most popular material everyone is used to doesn't focus on him as the lead. But if you listen to enough of their music with him you'll discover he did actually take lead with Scott doing the bass duties while Avi sang.

PTX was all work, no days off. He missed having a life outside of work. That said, after hearing Avi’s new music, I wonder if he was also wanting to express himself musically in a way that he could never do with PTX. Only Avi can answer that question. Pentatonix will never be the same without his incredible voice, but damn! Just listen to him here! Don’t mind if I do.

Such a simple ode to personal struggle and the ability to overcome.

There is something so primal about your music, Avi. It speaks to my heart and soul. Thank you for your gift to us.

Would agree in most cases - though some will argue that the point of a bass is to go mostly unnoticed: but checking 2:41 - 3:23 of Run To You, I see fuck all excuses for not utilising that ASTONISHING amount of sheer, raw talent. Genuinely can't recall when I've ever heard a voice that's so damn SMOOTH, yet still manages to convey such depth of emotion as he does. The man just has this ability to make you FEEL what he's singing about. That, combined with his range and vocal ability, is just exceptional. It's sad that it won't be as part of PTX anymore, but I'm not gonna complain that his voice will be the focus of any music he releases from now on 😏 (Edited because I can't spell, apparently.)

Love the bluesy tone of this one.

What a powerful voice...hits you right in your soul. God gifted talent. I've been singing to it for hours learning it....thank you and keep it going.

I feel like an entire movie could be made around this song with it being played at the height of the film. You know what I mean, about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way through the protagonist finally gets his act together and/or the people finally join him as he fights tyranny or something like that lol Look out bad guys Avi and his posse are coming for you! That change he sings of? Yeah that’s the end of tyranny and freedom for his people. Ok now we just need a screen play and someone to play the lead. Jim Caviezal maybe. Except he sang as a baritone. He only flirted with the bass notes at one point. This was a better fit for him. He’s got a great range down low and into tenor, but it’s easy to see he’s much more comfortable and powerful as a baritone. It’s definitely a different Avi than we’re used to seeing- and it’s amazing!

I hate to bring up Pentatonix but I am glad that Avi decided to go his own way. He's obviously passionate about his own visions and he wasn't able to create these soulful songs when he was working with four other people. He's really been able to create what he loves and we're incredibly lucky to be able to get a glimpse of that passion with all that Avi puts out. Much love to Avi and Pentatonix, they're both flourishing and doing better than ever 💕💕

It's not. I personally believe it's in a better place. Avi wanted to do his own thing which is fine. Really the best thing we can do is stop comparing them. Avi is no longer part of Pentatonix. And it is extremely exhausting that we can never come to an Avi video and appreciate Avi's work without Pentatonix being brought up.
