I had to give up playing sax because of jaw issues. I hear the first note and think "man got tone." It's not easy to make an alto sound that sweet.

Mouthpiece has a great tone. I had a Jody Jazz Jet mouthpiece. The Super Jet sounds much better, and costs much more too.

Find what works for you. I liked to use Rico Royal Plasticover myself, purely because I could clean my sax at the end of a session, put it in the case; then next time I open the case, I'm ready to play, no messing around. If you do give Plasticover a go, then go half a grade softer than your usual.

Mouthpieces are personal things, you need to find what works for you. Accept that there's no "one mouthpiece to rule them all," you might like different materials for different occasions.
