Saw this group in 1974, Salem , Va., with Hamish Stuart and Gorrie lead singers, awesome! One of the best bands I ever heard

I love AWB back to my UCLA college days in the 70s, when I always rocked their songs at my housing parties and much later my wife and my sisters-in-law took us husbands for Fathers Day to a concert at the GREEK to see AWB, WAR, and the GAP BAND!!!!!!!!!!! Such a spectacular time we all had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 65 and grew up groovin to this not knowing initially these guys were of a lighter shade when I first heard them actually when I was in the Air Force, smokin' one of those left handed cigarettes with my "Brothers" and just having a great time, Oh those were the days !

Sax player 🎷 has an "extra voice" machine somewhere - Schoolboy Crush - getting multiple horns 🎷📯🎺🎷. Fab!

I got to see and go back stage with AWB AND TOWER OF POWER at Humphrey's by the Bay in San Diego long time ago i actually got to stand on stage next to stage mix it was a dream come true i think thats when TOWER OF POWER released the album TOP

Me too! We had an 8 piece horn band with Guy and Chick lead singers. Got more requests for AWB than Ohio Players, Cool & the gang, Wild Cherry, and the rest of the funkmiesters. All great bands though!!!

AWB GOT SOUL LOVE THEIR VOCALS FUNKY GROOVES THEY BELONG IN THE ROCKIN HALL OF FAME

I remember first listening to this band back in 1975 their hit then was "Pick Up The Pieces". At first I thought it was James Brown only to find out it was a self contained band from Scotland. In those days it was a pleasure to listen to bands who could play it live as well as in the studio. I lived in a small city at the time on the east coast with a venue just as small so not every top group came to town. Fortunately there were show's on TV such as In Concert and The Midnight Special that brought live music of top bands into my home. AWB was one of them. Even though the band is down to two original members I still can listen to them all night.

I saw this group, when they first started, have a number of original lp's; and to this day I still enjoy the jam even tho some of the band members have passed, still great music, but the nine different concerts to my credit were wonderful!

THEIR SOUND WAS TOTALLY A MIXTURE OF THE BEST OF JAMES BROWN JB`S AND THE DEEPEST OF HEART FELT SOUL. BEEN A BASS PLAYER FOR MORE THAN FORTY YEARS. I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW HE COULD SING AND PLAY THAT BASS AS HE DID AND SING WITH THOSE FUNKY ODD BASS PATTERNS. EXCELLENT MUSICIANS ALL OF THEM AND CREATIVE. MADE THEIR MARK ON MUSIC HISTORY.

AWB sound is so clean . I remember when they performed on Soul Train back in the day it was live. No lip syncing or pretending to play. They did it live.

I attended this fare at the house of blues .Had dinner and a great table .Was amazed of the attendance of soul brothers and sisters giving kudos and respects of the soul these great performers

Amazing...."A Love of Your Own" has the sounds of the Stylistics all over it.....it was a stroke of genius to have Russell Thompkins jr, lead singer of Stylistics, as guest to sing it with Brent Carter and AWB decades later. His falsetto killed it. Just like Hamish did. I love Cloudy, Person to Person.....and the slow, soul sounds. And I'm 78. .....loving it! 🎶🎸🎷🎶

WOW! Just "discovered" this group, though I've heard "Pick Up The Pieces" for decades on the oldies stations... but just today learned that the band that did it was AWB!! Man this is GREAT STUFF!! Wife and I are already hoping to get to one of their concerts. They've got a new fan!!

I had a wide variety of influences growing up in music AWB were definitely one of them!

Love that Keytar and the funky groove of that drummer and the singing all makes me want to dance and I am so crippled with scoliosis that I can hardly stand but I get up on my crutches and sway with the best of them ;-)

Saw AWB in their earlier incarnation at the Watermill in Paisley, Scotland around 1973. Funk was always their first love. Great band & the survivors keep it lit. RIP the lost boys.

As Usual I Late To The Internet.I Was #8 Yrs. Old When AWB First Hit The Scene.The Show Was The Show.

These guys came from Scotland. I remember hearing "Pick Up the Pieces" for the first time in a local record store, Boo Boo Records, in San Luis Obispo, California in 1974. Bought the Album and have been a fan sense. And Boo Boo's is still there !!!!!!

I've been a huge fan of AWB seemingly forever and my thanks to Matteo Negri for posting this video, which I thoroughly enjoyed! I've loved everything they've done, especially "School Boy Crush" which to me is one of the coolest songs ever.

Damn they look good and sound great. When they come to Atlanta, their show always sell out rapidly.

Fantastic show. The new guys keep up the tradition just fine.

As a college student at the University of Washing in 1978, forty-one years ago, I attended an AWB concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA and had a great time. Keep up the great work, AWB!

This is one of my favorite groups of all time. They bring the funk!!!!

This band never got the recognition it deserved in it's heyday. Tight and right, these guys were ahead of their time. Only Tower of Power can pass their funky sound.

Stuart isn't playing. Quit decades ago. Lead singer is Alan Gorrie. ;-)

These Kats was a beast one of the best that ever did it AWB. I can say without a doubt that all of the bands in the 70’s was the truth. Today’s music sucks I can’t listen to it. Give me music for the 60’s to the mid 80’s any day of the week. ✌🏾♥️✊🏾

Bassist was instrumental, literally, in the Peter Gabrial tour that stunned everyone.. Easily identified by the kilt and long socks..

Seen them last year in Glasgow. They are the funkiest band ever ! Give yourself a treat and go along and dance to this incredible band

Them dudes got nothing but soul in them, the way they move and play.

Totally baffled by how this Scottish band jumped the river and landed in "Funk"!! But I grew up with them, so it's just normal. My question is how did they find Adam Deitch, the young funk drummer (at that time). Yes, I know Adam's dad is a drummer, but what made this kid so FUNKY!!! The whole band is an amazing blessing of funk!! Even the bass has a little hint of a Jaco Bounce!! Thank you AWB!!!

Not unlike Level 42 though, same period - UK kids from the Isle of White, somehow managed to catch the eye of Earth Wind & Fire members Larry Dunn, Andrew Woolfolk and Verdine White who invited them to the US and produced their album Standing In the Light and a first big chart hit The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up). Level 42 went from a borderline jazz ensemble (focussed on instrumentals) to a forerunner in the British jazz / funk wave of the 80's. The addition of Alan Murphy on guitar (a key driver of Go West's early tracks) with his clean overdrive and sustain gave them a burning energetic edge, particularly when playing live.

First saw AWB in 1976 at the 'Odeon' in Edinburgh and they've been my favourite band ever since !!. Just hearing their music brings back so many warm, sunny memories - seen then many times since and can't wait until the next time !

Wow! Got the Love, Got the Love! Yesss! Still sounding Amazing! The young drummer is KICKING it!

if only hamish would join up again for a wee tour, that would please all genuine awb fans no end.

I would pay anything to see them perform !!!!

I don't think it's about white/Black...it's abouut playing what's in your heart and finding others that share the vision. I do remember thinking it was the first black band I liked. Until I was later told it was AWB for a reason...I was really surprised...still love it after all these years...
