    I just subscribed! I've watched a few of your videos now and believe you're the best fitter I've seen from many I've seen on KZread and also several fittings I've had myself. I wish I could get to where you are. I notice you don't have Ping drivers in your fitting matrix but hopefully you'll get them in the future. All the best with your business and the KZread channel.

    Great job - we need more of these "average golfer" content to dispel the notion that custom fittings are only for topflight golfers or those generating 160mph ball speeds. We especially need more of these in the UK also make aftermarket shafts more readily available. I was fitted to a Qi10 two weeks ago (9*; Stock Ventus Black, standard length = 140 ball speed, 240 carry, 2700rpm w/range balls) and this video was a really good comparison/validation to my fitting. I really liked the Ai Smoke but had the same high spin issues. Loved the look of the Cobra but was all over the place with it. Have a mental block with Titleist drivers and irons, and the Ping Turbulators triggers my imaginary OCD.

As luck would have it, I own some of the shafts that were presented on the channel and it's given me options. I also have 3 different PXG heads so I'm good to go. Thanks for a great video. I like the way you went back and retested the original club at the end. I think that should always be done on a testing. I also think a testing over several sessions would be better than a one off, one day test. Many, if not most amateurs hit it differently on different days. The only other thing I would like to see are time stamps at the start of each new club tested so I could easily bounce back and forth among the tests. Again, thank you for a very informative video. Cheers.

    A really excellent fitting. Gave the watchers a lot to think about. What particularly struck me was the so so performance of all the new releases and the way the Titleist was the only one that clearly stood out. I just had a similar experience. I have a 2017 Callaway Epic GBB Sub Zero 10.5 degree head with Graphite Design Tour AD IZ R1 flex 54 gram shaft, set neutral standard.The indoor range I go to with Foresight Hawkeye overhead monitors has both the original Callaway Paradym drivers and the new Ai Smoke new releases. They have sharply discounted the prior Paradym demos, which are in great shape and never hit outdoors. So out of curiosity I had the 10.5 standard head put on my GD shaft, set neutral standard. I got no increase in distance or ball speed with the Paradym, in fact maybe a bit less. Then today I did the same comparison but with a new Ai Smoke head on my shaft. We can use our own balls against the screens so I even bought a sleeve of the new Titleist Pro V1x balls to ensure consistency. Again, got NO significant improvement over my 2017 GBB Sub Zero. No reason to consider buying a new driver. Taking my results together with Aaron’s in your fitting, I wonder what the heck is going on with the new clubs. Have they reached a point of diminishing returns? Is all the clamor about 10K just marketing hype? Are the improvements if any discernible only in robot testing? Of course, now I have to go compare my driver with the Titleist TSR-3. FYI, in terms of average golfer, maybe I’m an average super-senior. Will be 83 this June. Have played over 60 years. Handicap 16-17. Driver carry ranges from 190 to 205. Ball speed 118-124. The Foresight overhead doesn’t give club speed. Again, thanks for the detailed video.

    Another great video, Ross - so relevant to the huge majority of golfers IMV. I was very impressed with Aaron’s ability to deliver the club so consistently (even leaving aside a few stinkers edited out - we all have those!) - it should allow him to become a pretty decent golfer, especially if he can find a bit more speed. I would love to get my path within 2 deg of target like that 😢 😊 Even allowing for the I-to-O path and a very slightly open face, I’m really surprised that he was able to generate quite so much spin with some of the heads - is that something you have seen with other fittings? Anyway, keep up the good work - subscriptions are increasing steadily

    I've never been able to feel the CH with the big drivers, and finally had an insight. I hit my 3W OK, so try something closer to that. Well, the TaylorMade Mini-driver is only 3/4's of an inch longer than my 3W; the head is about 2x as large but that's still 1/3 smaller than the monster drivers of today. So, bought the 11.5 degree version of the Mini-driver. Happy days! Very straight, very easy to swing & turn over, distance ranges from 230/250 (Carry & rollout) to 240/260 . For a 64 YO 5 ft. 7" guy this is heaven. Saved a couple hundred bucks over a new driver as well.

I tried a mini driver back in the SLDR days and didn't have a ton of success....I'm like you, I hit 3 wood quite well most of the time, but struggle with driver. It would be great to get numbers like that - 240-260 and in play gives a short iron in to most par 4's, and a reasonable chance of reaching many par 5's in 2. From the white tees anyway 🤣

    Great video and his problems of high launch and spin seem to be the same with my own. I may try to drop my loft down to 8 - 8.5 from 9 to see what happens. I just figured carry distance would be less. But he was carrying it farther with less loft.

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    5 ай бұрын

    Yes give it a go! If you hit up on it a lot you will always launch it high, which isn't a bad thing for maximising carry. But the spin can't be too high! That's where going down in loft helps 👌 if the spin is too high then you will just be losing distance and creating an even higher ball flight.

    I really like your fitting. The BEST part in my opinion is that you have him go back to his current driver at the end. So many fit videos don't. After he's spent XXX swings warming up and grooving his swing, it's got to be sooo much better near the end of a session to show an actual apples to apples comparison. I would have liked to see him try a PING (just seems missing) and an even lighter shaft to see if he could gain a bit of speed. I'm so jealous of his consistency.

    Great video mate! I really like how you leave no stone unturned. Weight, no weight, shorter shaft, standard length etc. I’m really intrigued in how 2 different heads can impact the vertical deflection in the same shaft and move the impact around the face which of course changes loft, spin, efficiency etc. Keep up the good work! I’m curious why you didn’t try the Qi LS head in the upright setting to offset that right bias.

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    5 ай бұрын

    Thanks bud! I think a lot of strike is people reacting to weight and CG. That's why trial and error and testing in fittings is so important. Honestly the LS is just very fade bias. Upright in driver is always marginal as lie angle tilts loft so the less loft the less effect. Plus that only impacts start direction anyway. Getting the face square is still the biggest part of the equation. TSR for players like Aaron is so much better and we could get optimal numbers out of it anyway so just no advantage going into the the Qi LS

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    5 ай бұрын

    If we go up in loft then launch and spin just increases. For Aaron that is the opposite of what we were trying to do. Hence why we ended up in an 8*. Loft has nothing to do with speed. Just get the right loft and head design to get the launch and spin optimal for the way you deliver the club 🙌

    This has to be top 3 videos for you! (Which is saying a lot because you put out bangers!) Very impressive. So just for us extra nerds. Was it even worth trying the final set up a little bit longer? Like 45.5 then a touch less head weight to keep at about D0- since that seems about what he liked. I only ask because normally longer is a terrible idea for most.. but because he hits it so straight maybe that extra swing speed would help? Or you think strike was not just swing weight related but also length?

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    5 ай бұрын

    Thanks Purrly! Appreciate that mate! 👍👍 In terms of the length I liked 45 as a middle ground. Aaron wasn't the tallest, had quite low hands and his dynamic lie was super toe up already. So for the minimal extra swing speed going 0.5" longer would have gotten him I don't think it would have been worth the trades offs on strike and comfort. Going back into his he felt the length was just too long

    Only way this gets better would be to have tried his head on a different/shorter shaft to try to improve the strike. It would be interesting to see a follow up comparison. Often a new driver isn’t the answer. Sometimes a change in shaft/length/swing weight/grip or some combo of those are a bigger game changer than a new driver will ever be.

    I just subscribed - great content. My driver club speed is also 90-95. I inherited a 10.5 loft driver, and I thought that loft is probably about optimal given my not so fast swing speed. However, it looks like you mostly had this golfer (with a similar swing speed) on 9 (and even 8) degree loft drivers. Safe to say mine is likely too high?

  • @epgolfstudios

    @epgolfstudios

    Thanks we appreciate the sub 🙌 and yeah swing speed is not linked to the loft you need. It all comes down to how you deliver the club into impact and the loft that you deliver. So really the only way to know what loft is correct is to get fitted properly 👍

    I think most golfers would do well with older clubs like the G30. One of the things I dislike about fittings is that everything is the current (expensive) model. Have you ever considered fitting someone with a used club? Even this guy was using a Stealth 2. It looked like he was sold on a latest and greatest, and it wasn't performing for him.

    Thank you for that, that does make sense. I have gotten a couple fittings for my whole bag but have been less than pleased with the result. I felt like it was more of a sales pitch that an actual fitting to improve my game. I ended up with irons I really don't think were the right fit for me and the second time they recommended something that was even worse. I saw another content creator talking about how you need to start with the ball and work out from there. Make sense that it has less impact on driver though. Can you recommend any of your videos where you address the proper ball in a fitting? I would be interested in watching a video or two where you go through that process. Thanks!@@epgolfstudios

    Going for my first driver fitting in a couple weeks. I found recently that I was hitting negative 4° down with my driver. So i have been teeing it higher & started hitting up on it now. But my problem with the driver is a right miss due to a inability to get the face closed as much as id like to. Are there a handful of shafts you would recommend to try during the fitting that increase face closure rate.

  • @epgolfstudios

    Good luck! And no not really, biggest thing there will be shaft length and swingweight. So make sure you ask to play around with shorter shafts and if they can different head weights. That will have more impact than the actual shaft itself.

    What I don’t understand is why don’t you find what shaft is best first and then play around with heads? It seems there are too many variables. I had a fitting and it was the same. Fitter kept on giving me different shaft head combos. I ultimately settled on not getting a new driver for $1,100. I’m happy with 285 carry. I just started researching what shaft is best for me and now I’m able to control ball flight much better.

    Getting the right head is more important that shaft so generally feel out different heads first. And I pretty much always stick with stock shafts to begin with, and for most players stock all the way through the session depending on budget / ability, so they obviously don't interchange. We have lots of aftermarkets with universal tips but don't use them much. So get the right head first and then maybe test a few shafts after that
