I was there too! Insane experience to say the least... I think the swell was even bigger than the forecast models were calling and may have been around 16-18ft @ 20 seconds - if there was actually a buoy to measure it. I live in Hawaii, so that's my estimate based on what I experienced that day compared to what I see here in the winter time... The day after the giant day was insane, huge, perfect and hardly anyone surfed because they were so adrenaline fried from the day before.

I lived in Hawaii for 5 years. It reminds me of Laneaka at 10' - 12'....... A wave that doesn't get the credit it deserves. With a large north swell, Laneaka can real off 200 yard PITTS ! ! ! There's no good place to capture pictures or clips. So it goes unnoticed. It is one of the heaviest waves on The North Shore. FACT. Glad you caught this epic day.
