Yes, royal leather perfume was used to cover the Creed leather gloves because leather was cured in horse dung to soften it. The King loved the smell of his new Creed gloves and declared them as Royal leather, so Only Nobles were allowed to own Creed gloves, until the 1980’s when these reserved fragrances were released to the pee-ons. So, if you own leather (work gloves) you can call them Royal now.

Very well done video - informative and entertaining. One personal observation about Creed Aventus. While it's my favorite, it sometimes seems to me that it's a bit too subtle and doesn't last very long at all. My wife says the same. As I've been using for several years as my main fragrance, is it possible I've been desensitized to it? I also like Green Irish Tweed and feel that scent lasts forever and ever. However, notice I said I like Irish Tweed, not love it like I do Aventus. Just wish Aventus would last longer on me.

Hey Chas Lancer, I like alternating through different fragrance’s so as to ‘excite’ my nose. I have a friend who had a similar problem with Santal 33. It was his only fragrance and after a while he would say he couldn’t smell it on himself anymore (but we all could). I’m a fan of having a few perfumes so you can alternate. Gives your nose a chance to refresh. Truth is both Aventus and Green Irish Tweed are both very strong performing fragrances, you might not smell it but it’s definitely there....maybe when you next wear it, ask a random if they can smell your fragrance??🤔 and see what they say

Hi, Sir. I have seen so many videos, and your reviews are so great and on point. I am new to the fragrance world, I started with Dior Sauvage (watching youtube reviews about it) and I got a 1 compliment in 1st hour and that's it. After that, I even cannot smell it on my body, (my Nose blind idk.) Not having a satisfactory experience with it. Ad longevity is my main concern for at least 6 hours but with good projection. So I started looking into Creed's fragrances, and I am now thinking to buy Green Irish or maybe I will go with Aventus, The only concern I have that I have seen on many forums number of people complaining about that new batches are not worth the money and longevity is not as good as it used to be in old batches. What are your remarks on it? Which batches you are having for both? Kindly help me out with this. Thanks is advance.

So good to hear from you Elia; I'm so happy that we're connected. Ok you've mentioned some awesome points. Let me share my view and episodes that I've created to help answer these. 1. Sauvage: if you love the scent profile to this perfume but you want something which is unique and with a bit more kick, then check out this episode with 6 recommendations:kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqN6rct-p7PbirA.html 2. Creed Formulation: I create a series called 'Maté Talk' in which I'm answering questions from fans. We had a 3 week conversation on all things Creed; here is this thread: 08:06 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yn2HqJqTc6TAZZc.html 01:23 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaps19SdacLKc8Y.html Does re-formulation exist in the perfume world? Yes. New 'best practises' are released and as a result this affects certain perfume compositions (for instance, no more animal derived products are allowed, so yes, reformulation needs to happen to now include a synthetic replacement)....BUT the actual question is, does Creed reformulate to make a weaker product??? Watch the 2nd link about, I address this. Let me know your thoughts once you've had a chance to watch....I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. Once again, thanks for reaching out @ELIA KASHIF👊🏼

I wonder how true it is that Green Irish Tweed was originally a custom fragrance created specifically for Carey Grant. Creed representatives won't say. I've talked to sales associates at the Creed boutique in Vegas. They were directed to not confirm. So he kind of grinned and said "allegedly". Spring Flower for Audrey Hepburn. Here's one: allegedly Frank Sinatra wore Bois du Portugal (my favorite Creed). Was Bois du Portugal originally custom created specifically for Frank Sinatra? He did love lavender scents. That IS documented.

I am more inclined to believe Creed's historical story than the naysayers. I don't know for sure, but the bandwagon of resentment and contrarianism seems to have run amok. Also, I would think they would have perfumers who work under the direction and supervision of Creed sr. and jr. The name attribution is that of Creed, much like its Tom Ford for TF fragrances. I like the way Frederic Malle does it: print the name of the perfumer right on the bottle, in larger print than Frederic Malle.

@@JT-rx1eo The issue is, it's not a bandwagon of bitter resentment. To believe any historical claims, you must have evidence, of which there is a complete lack-there-of. Compare it with Guerlain, a company with a proven history, no one denies their history due to the evidence that they were indeed making perfumes under 200 years ago. My question to you is, with a lack of evidence and the fact that they claim to also be perfumers, when it is well known that they are not, why would you believe it? What do you have to have that position other than their word? When they are happy to lie and misinform freely about their creative process. I did once read a news article in the independent news paper in London with Erwin Creed, back a few years. He claimed their perfume's were special as they are quote "completely natural". This is a complete lie, they contain synthetic materials, and quite clearly if you have a nose. There is nothing wrong with using synthetic raw materials, absolutely nothing wrong. Why not be honest? Again is it a marketing ploy to make consumers think the high prices are justified? Which doesn't make sense because many synthetic ingredients are much more expensive than some naturals, such as muscone compared to bergamot for example. Taking in consideration the interview was 8 or so years ago when Creed prices were somewhat reasonable and the quality also reasonable, unlike today when the former has skyrocketed and the latter has plummeted! You may be inclined to believe what you want. I respect your choice. Yet, I believe, to believe they had such a history is to take them for their word, the same people who gladly lie about other things. If you like Creed fragrances, that's your choice and your perogative. All the best!

@@jura_rose Its difficult to take a statement like "Creed is not a perfume house" seriously. Questioning their direction, or quality, or a lot of things is fair game, but is their any specific information that would indicate creative control or integrity was compromised by any financial restructuring? Creed does not have to prove anything to the naysayers. Do you have evidence they are lying about their history, or were actually created in 1970 as many naysayers claim without any proof? The burden of proof is not them, it is on the naysayers. The reason I lean toward their story is the immense risk of getting caught. If it's a lie, where is the exposure from the press? From the supposed prestigious patrons? Show me the smoking gun and I'll believe you. Creed is not under any obligation to provide you your "evidence". Maybe they prefer a secretive veil. Seems they do. I read the same interview. I remember him talking about why natural was better than synthetic, something about the diverging life cycles during wear. But I don't recall him explicitly denying they used ANY synthetic materials. I'll need to look for that article again. Maybe he did. But is Olivier Creed any more of a liar than the Head of any other luxury brand?...... OK, I found it..... "....Creed tells me, and it relates to the nature of the base materials. "I have one core belief," he says, "and one only: that we must always use ingredients which are natural.... " OK, I can see how that would be interpreted as something like "we NEVER use ANY synthetic materials because we are too good for that", although as usual there is room left for equivocation. Then a good thing to do it's that big of an issue is prove him wrong and force him to defend. Prices can be high in luxury markets. That's the way it is. Creed isn't the only brand with high prices. I looked at some Tom Ford men's clothing prices and was shocked. Quality, to a large degree, is subjective too. I cannot compare to older Creeds, only offer an opinion on the ones I have. "reasonableness" in prices in luxury markets (especially) is not a straight calculus. Doesn't work that way. If you reject or criticize Creed for any reason that is fine. Its your right. And I dont like all things Creed. But my main contention that there seems to be a bandwagon of disproportionate negativity toward them, and that it seems it is largely driven out of resentment and contrarianism, stands. In that same article, the interviewer explains to Creed the attitude towards them held by the well known pompous perfume critic Luca Turin: ""I got the feeling that he dislikes you personally. Have you offended him in some way?" Just seems resentful and contrarian.

@@JT-rx1eo James James James! I am sorry but when on earth does the burden of proof fall on the critic? The burden of proof is always upon the one making the claim. You know this! Surely you do! That goes for history and science. If a claim is made, you must provide evidence, otherwise it is rightfully scrutinized. In fact, if you are defending the claim, you must provide the smoking gun! My issue is the lack-of evidence, which there is none, but I cannot say that a lack of evidence is evidence! No, that's the whole point, you make a claim, back it up, I am saying I cannot believe the claim because you have nothing to back up the claim. Also, concerning the arguement that they would not be able to get away with it. They don't, many have called then out. Also, creed are too small for mainstream media to make a huge story out of it, as they are very niche. It's not like Milli Vanilli! 😂How many interviews other than that one independent article are around? Not many. No one cares! Except some. That's not an argument. Concerning the interview with Erwin. He is absolutely making the claim of using "ONLY" natural ingredients, to deny that is absolutely ludicrous. It's in writing! Lastly, it's not wise to box me in some "bandwagon of resentment". Are critics always full of resentment? Is criticism a bad thing? I am sorry if I burst some people's balloons with my comments, I didn't mean any personal harm by stating facts. Luca Turin, what has he got to do with the conversation? His opinion is his opinion? I don't agree with everything he says at all. I don't find his reviews at all helpful and slightly self-important. James you have not provided me any evidence that Creeds history is real, like the Creed family. If their history is real, why not provide the evidence like any other company will do. Likely because anyone who lies does the same thing, "I don't need to", of course you don't! 🤦🏻‍♂️ You make a claim and don't want to prove it? It's absolutely ridiculous. They don't owe me evidence? I'd say I don't owe them my trust, especially if they lie and provide no evidence for their claims! All the best.

2 sprays? I beg to differ. Overpriced water i can't smell after 2-3 hours. I thought I got a dupe, but it's an authentic GIT. Definitely stays longer on clothes, around 5 to 6 hours. Not on the body.

There's a lot of inaccuracies in this video. - This was uploaded a year ago after BlackRock acquired Creed. Creed is no longer family owned - it is owned by BlackRock - There is not even the smallest amount of evidence that supports that Creed has been around since 1760, the long history of their fragrances or that they were created for royalty. This story is almost certainly just fabricated marketing - Most of Creed's successful fragrances were created through Creed manipulating Pierre Bourdon with false promises that the Creed family never kept. If it weren't for them exploiting Pierre Bourdon and having him design most of their super successful fragrances for nothing they probably wouldn't have been successful. They literally stole the majority of their successful compositions from him. Green Irish Tweed is the fragrance that got them on the map - Many of Creed's fragrances are actually clones in and of themselves - designed based heavily by other fragrances that came up first. Creed would typically do that, come up with the scent and then make it with the highest quality versions of those ingredients/notes to justify a higher price

Awesome to hear from you James. Appreciate you taking the time to share. It's always an interesting exercise in balancing the corporate 'marketing' line from businesses with what may have really happened. I feel that there is some element of truth in these stories mixed in with a healthy dose of creativity. Thanks again for sharing @jamesbroderick5588
