+N.Might Slapallama THQ went bankrupt in 2012. So most of it's unfinished games were most likely scrapped or were adsorbed into other publishers. At the time, other publishers most likely found the real working parts of the game were not good enough to keep working on.

+N.Might Slapallama They don't qualify investment as good or bad depending on how fun a game looks... Businessmen pretty much only listen to past proof that it will work or HAS worked, which is why you get so many sequels. They don't want to take any chance on a new series generally. Deal with a few variables as possible, eliminate as many unknowns as you can, etc. Making a new game introduces more variables, more unknowns, more things you can't predict or control, etc... I know it's boring to think like that, but it's business... As a consumer/gamer myself I wish they would take more chances on new, fresher ideas. They don't always hit but when they do, they can be some of the most amazing releases out there...

+Chopper Yes! Either based on Secret Invasion/Dark Reign/Siege (with the choice to be either the Avengers or Dark Avengers), Avengers vs X-Men (picking which side you want to be) or 2015's Secret Wars (with numerous alternate versions of characters to unlock and have special abilities as).

Wow, this one made me genuinely sad, so much potencial was lost...

The fact that this game got canned is tragic. A first-person, teamwork-based game like this is ideal for a Marvel or DC IP. I really hope they bring this idea back in some form or another, because this looks brilliant. Although it would be hampered by modern DLC practices, it still looks like tons of fun. Plus, having Brian Michael Bendis writing the story and dialogue basically guarantees it won't be bad.

it's kind of amazing how long a game can be in development and there's still wishy-washy uncertainty over major decisions like entire game modes, AI companions, and launch platforms. it's a miracle it is that games can get put together and shipped at a deadline relatively bug-free.

5:17 I'm pretty sure I used to own that figure, in fact I maybe still do! I had no idea it was at all connected to the game, I really just thought it was a random character the toy line threw in there for an extra quick buck, you know, like some superhero toys nowadays have suits of characters that were never really featured in the movie. This had some incredible info about the game that I never knew, so well done!

No wonder those trablet thingies failed, I have never ever heard of those... They probably marketed them very poorly.

Blame uDraw! uDraw caused THQ had to cancel the game because they had to cut budgets, and they had to cut budgets because the uDraw flopped.

Man, this could've been amazing. It'd be like Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Payday The Heist had a baby.

But for PC games (my top 3 co-op first person games): 1) Borderlands 2 (Sci-fi action-rpg with a fairly long story and good co-op mechanics.) 2) Payday 2 (A modern day heist shooter with RPG-like leveling progression.) 3) Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide (Similar to Left 4 Dead but in a fantasy setting and loot.) All games are on sale right now on steam but only the first two are less than $5.

Great investigative piece. This is excellent work. We need more like this.

I actually got to play test this game in it's early development about 6 years ago when I was back in highschool... it was absolutely phenomenal, I really wish it hadn't been cancelled.

The people who produced it are always going to say how cool/great it was but they are extremely biased, no one wants to say that the game they made was mediocre or crap. +Rattleshirt This is very true, but conceptually it sounds like something that could have been done successfully. Of course there's the chance of it not working, but the game wasn't cancelled because of its quality, just poor financial happenstance. I feel like, at the very least, it would have been something decent. It sounds like an ambitious project, and it broke the mold of traditional Superhero games.

The first Iron Man game was actually really fun, you got full use of your suit, you could fly around massive maps or get up close and personal. Sadly the second Iron Man game removed that freedom and chose to focus on melee combat.

We could have had a Marvel version of Star Wars: Republic Commando

Certainly would have been better than the one we have today =V

There are a ton of indie games that feel like they're from the 6th generation, and they're pretty great. I don't see that as a good reason to leave this game dead. Even from what was shown in this video, the game looks pretty good.

Ok, who's going to join me in starting up a kickstarter for this thing. I think we need it to be choosable whether you do first or third person coz I can't play first very well lol. Plus, I think it should include all the Marvel characters, and have it be a series with people like the Inhumans, X-Men, Thanos, Chitauri etc dropping in to future games, so it's like it's building towards something, maybe infinity war? PLUS, it'd be cool if you start off with a certain costume/armour and either have to work your way up through them in the story (aka Iron Man who starts with Mark 2) or you can find other special costumes, like original Iron Man costumes or original Capt America costumes, or Original Wolverine costumes. God I'm getting goosebumps just thinking of the possibilities.

this looks like so much fun and i know i would have a blast playing it with friends and the first person mode was something very very new with most superhero games in third person and the first person looks like it would be a lot of fun i wish they either tried a kickstarter or tried to team up with another video game company to make it

YipYapYoup It's suprisingly good but then i am a Marvel fan so i guess i am biased. It has no P2W in it, events and content updates weekly, it may be an MMO but you have no requirement for player interaction at all and the rpg part? it best suits a Marvel game the way i see it. Marvel heroes basically reminds me of the old X-men legend games, except online with a crap ton of content.

Jonathan Köller Very ignorant, firstly because mmo rpg just means it's a role playing game with massively multiplayer online (very easy criteria to complete) and secondly diablo was not the first arpg (the game is actually an arpg - which diablo also is). If you look into the history of the arpg diablo was by far not the first, one of the game designers of Marvel Heroes was also part of diablo 2.

Shane M Diablo Clone was meant as a good thing. If some one says MMORPG most people, atleast me, get something like WoW in their heads. Diablo is an awesome game add super heroes and you get something wonderful.

fun fact, they made movie tie ins for every phase 1 film except avengers, which is dissapointing because not only is avengers my favourite phase 1 film but it means that they didnt even get a complete phase done in video game form

Of all the cancelled games out there, this one I mourn for the most.

How was this not retooled into Ultimate Alliance 3? The story sounds PERFECT for that.

I could still see this being made in the style of Evolve. 4 heroes embark on multiplayer missions against 1 villain and a.i. henchmen. Heroes have individual powers that integrate with each other, and the villain 'evolves' by trying to complete set of objectives.

Now I just REALLY wanna see the MCU getting tie-in games. LIKE SERIOUSLY CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW COOL A CIVIL WAR GAME WOULD BE WHERE YOU GET TO PLAY AS BOTH SIDES

The first person for iron and captain America looks amazing, this should be made as a stand alone single player game and make a universe of video games!

Everything is pretty much spot on up to 0-9 minutes and then 10:30 until the end. The real tragedy was so many people singing front the same song sheet, focused and giving 100+% on what was a great, fun game to play on many levels

THIS NEEDS TO BE MADE

Running training scenarios alongside heroes sound infinitely more interesting to me than another instance of heroes slapping down droves of [insert hostile aliens here].

The first person perspective could've been really hit or miss, but the rest of this games sounds so amazing. Really wish it could have been finished and released.

This game seems sort of ahead of its time. A lot of this stuff were now recently seeing trend in first person games; specials, greater focus on Co op and teamwork, etc.

The combo system in particular seemed interesting to me. I don't recall such a thing ever existing in a co-op game. Beyond that, it seems to work very, very well with the idea of the Avengers as a team. I'm appreciative that the combos weren't simply pre-animated co-op attacks like in Ultimate Alliance and some of the TMNT games.

Damn. That footage looks great. It's a damn shame that this never got made.

I think it would've of been call if they managed to create unique levels for certain characters that you could unlock. Like espionage missions where you play as hawkeye or blackwidow in a thief inspired way or multiplayer mode where you could play as shield soldiers against hydra soldiers in a classic fps way.

This was a very fun game to work on, It was shaping up very well. This video reminded me of a lot of things I forgot about the game. I wish I kept some footage of the stuff that I worked on.
