That’s actually kind of why there was backlash, a lot of people felt like they sold out (which they didn’t). Personally I like this album but it’s terrible when compared to the three before it.

I remember "real" metal fans saying they sold out around City of Evil 😆 "Hail to the King" may not be as heavy as other albums (lack of The Rev in all), but it's really solid. Shepherd of Fire and Requiem are still in rotation for me.
