How lucky we are with Sissel is proven by zillions of comments. But she just shares her tremendous fortune with us because there may not be greater luck than doing what one loves. And LOVE - she sure does have with music. Thanx!

Sissel has been my favourite soprano/singer for many years now. This rendition of Ave Maria is the greatest of all time. When Sissel eventually goes to heaven, she will be lead singer amongst all the other angels. Bonney, Norman, Sutherland, Callas are/were all great and famous sopranos but Sissel is still the best of the best. Bravo, bravo, bravo Sissel.

Modern Sopranos perhaps. BUT, if you have NOT heard Deanna Durbin sing this song...then you have missed out. Hers was the voice music teachers Taught Sopranos off of. Look up Deanna Durbin you'll find someone else to listen to. :D

Sissel is definitely one of the best. Her rendition of Ave Maria is in a class by itself.

A soprano and classical crossover lady of Norwegian, Sissel Kyrkjebo represents one of the world famous of Northern Europe. Her Angel voice almost touched my soul, my feeling and my emotion too. Many applauses for Sissel. An unknown Vietnamese listener.

Female voice singing this song = Sissel. She sings it so beautifully to the point it makes me tear up. Male voice singing this song = Perry Como. He puts a rich velvety touch on it.

I discovered Sissel only a few weeks ago and cannot get enough. This recording Ave Maria is the best I have ever heard; the clarity of her fine voice with its mediterranean styled accents. Heavenly.

OMG, I just found this young woman by accident, and now I am so much the better for it. She CAN sing.

I just heard her for the first time this past Sunday.....and I’ve been filling up with her music ever since.

The prettiest/ most attractive people (woman) I have ever seen in my life was in Norway.

I just found her by accident, as it were, singing with Placido Domingo. Moved me nigh to tears. Sissel has such a lovely voice and such a sincere and touching delivery. Haunting and wonderful.

I just heard her for the first time yesterday when she sang a duet with Placido Domingo. It was wonderful. Thank you.

I have tickets to Sissel 20 December 2014 in Goteburg, Sweden. My third time to see her live, it is my Christmas present to myself. When you experience her live and up close, you understand, and are enveloped, in the presence of greatness. The warmth stays with you as experience the beauty of the surrounding Scandinavian Christmas.

Just wish I had stumbled on this beautiful earthly lady that has been gifted by the Grace of God with a voice of one of HIS angels sooner.

Since discovering Diesel on You Tube I listen to her most days.Her rendition of Ave Maria is the best I have ever heard!When the Pandemic is over I intend to travel to see her in a live performance.

yep. she is ALWAYS smiling while she sings you are correct. And she has been that way since day one so its just WHO she is. Just a beautiful person no doubt about it.

Nobody has her crystal voice, and nobody has so far an angelic voice like her.

I’m very hard of hearing so big big thanks to God for sending Sissel on utube for me to hear the clearest renditions of anyone I know singing my favourite songs

Another brilliant rendition by Sissel. I love her singing opera with her high range of notes. She stands as a peer with Maria Callas, Barbara Bonney and dame Joan Sutherland as the best of the best. The clarity of her words are so crystal clear.

65 year old here, only just found Sissel, a very beautiful lady with a crystal clear tone, although my favourite version of Schubert's Ave Maria is by Deanne Durbin this is very close. I thank youtube for opening up a wider world of music to me....I can pronounce Sissel but not sure about the rest.

This is so much nicer that the duet version she has on the CD. That one gallops along, presumably pushed by the other singer, but this version has space and is just perfection.

Beautiful voice like an angel

I too found Sissel quite by accident on youtube and have been listening to her magnificent voice, and enjoying her beauty and stage presence ever since. She is awesome and amazing; I have collected most of her CDs. Too bad she is virtually unknown in the US; unbelievable! I am introducing her to everyone I know and giving my friends her CDs. They are equally stunned at her talent and beauty!

C’est à 91 ans, cette année, que j’ai découvert la soprano norvégienne Sissel Kyrkjebø. Avec mes deux fils (et feu mon épouse penserait certainement de même) nous apprécions beaucoup sa voix pure comme un cristal de Bohème, sa diction parfaite, sa façon mesurée de chanter qui n’exclut pas une certaine émotion. Longue et saine vie à elle.
