We actually see Azula twice during the first season - During "The Storm" flashback when Zuko is burned, and during the ending of the season, as a cliffhanger. We also hear Zuko first mentioning her in the cave when he reflects on his life. So there's plenty of times Azula can canonicaly appear in the first season
I'm so frickin happy that you decided to react to this my man! Please cover everything Avatar related.

Really like them showing how young some of the characters actually are, with the casting, especially Aang and Azula, and Toph will of course look the youngest in season 2.
Well damn, they actually nailed it visually! The costumes, the designs, the castings, the animals, the settings, it all looks great! And I agree that having that ICONIC music really adds a lot to it! Now story or writing-wise it's hard to really tell if it's good or not since outside of Iroh's narration there's no dialogue in this teaser so we'll have to wait and see more to really get a grasp on it. But as a HUGE fan of the OG Avatar series, and having been one of those 2000s kids that was lucky enough to see it when it aired way back when, I can definitely say that it's sending a VERY promising first impression!

That wasn't Iroh. That was Monk Gyatso speaking. And that island they were flying to at the end, was Kyoshi Island. Notice her Giant statue can be seen at the left hand side of the island.

Can't believe they still only release the trailers in 1080p quality. Should really be 8K, to mitigate KZread's insane bitrate compression, but 4K would be fair, the show is shot in 4K after all.

No, it looks like all the costumes were purchased at a pop-up Halloween store and the entire world looks like a cut scene.
I'll admit that I was one of those who liked the intricate design for Aang's arrow in the Shyamalan version, so I'm glad to see they integrated it in this version. Cautiously excited to see this series, February cannot arrive fast enough.

childhood me is so happy rn, i'm getting two childhood classics adapted within 2 months of each other
I find if funny that one of your old videos about Netflix lying about the Avatar series popped up on my recommendation page and all of sudden you released a reaction video of Avatar live action
I never thought I’d be seeing an ATLA video on here. It’s also my favorite tv show while Sonic is my favorite game series. :D
Avatar is one of my top 5 favorite shows ever made 😁 AND THIS LOOKS AMAZING
AtLA is my favorite show of all time too, and it's a breath of fresh air to see a reactor that knows the show so well!
I love Avatar the Last Airbender, and I so excited for this Netflix adaption
In that beginning shot, those arrows coming in the sky are actually Firebenders jetting themselves And that agni kai shot is against Ozai. Zuko doesnt have a full head of hair when he fights Zhao. It looks like Zuko is trying his best to cut through and deflect

It actually makes sense..remember aang saying that only airbenders can get into temples... while talented firebenders can fly not everyone can...but with the sozins comet every firebender will have that capability...so how to do the genocide ...easy. ...4 fleets to the islands which hosts air temples...then 4 secret taskforces to wait until the night of the comet day...then simultaneous attack to eliminate all targets...

oh so it's not like in the show where we see zuko just take the hit from ozai? that's actually a nice change if so ngl

Gonna be epic
Regarding the creators leaving them coming back, the production team when they left is entirely different (almost) from the current one. The creators came back afterwards to write a couple episodes and add lore details to tie it in to Avatar Studios.

@@coffeelatte141 Sort of, not really. What I guess happened is the current director reached out to them to help with some details behind the scenes and Bryke agreed to have their names credited on the series as writers for the first 2 episodes.

@@coffeelatte141 According to Avatar News they did in some capacity, coming back to help write a couple episodes and add new lore details. Not as full showrunners, just having writing credits on a couple of the episodes and adding new lore to tie in to Avatar Studios but they are involved in some capacity. As for Avatar News' sources, he got everything about the live-action reight including announcing the cast 8 months before Netflix did, so he has a perfect track record so he's likely right about that too.
I totally relate to how you're "scared to be excited for this" haha most of us are cautiously optimistic and I really hope they do the show justice !
That was Monk Gyatso speaking. And that island they were flying to at the end, was Kyoshi Island. Notice her Giant statue can be seen at the left hand side of the island.
Sam, I love your energy and personality, you stay true to your love of Avatar but, you're open to change. Especially going forward and expanding to new viewers. That's how everyone who's a fan of this amazing show should be. Thank you! 🙏
After seeing that teaser, 30% of me is still kinda worried that this adaptation might be mid or bad while 70% has also got me geeking over the character models, 4 nation settings looks incredible, music got me feeling like a child again, n bending is just gas❤❤❤. I really hope Netflix nails this like they done with live action One Piece, if not better.
Really hope they make a poster of that shot of the boy in the iceberg moment cause that was stunning.
Monk Gyatso is narrating. If you look at the bottom right at Omashu, just inside the doors? Yeah. That's the cabbage merchant's cart. Target Acquired.
I'm glad to see Sam showcasing his love for Avatar.
You'll find no complaints from me regarding more Avatar content. Keep it coming!
the costumes are AMAZING!!!! Aang Looks Fantastic and i wanna see him Glide on that glider cause IM A SUCKER For Aang's Glider man! (Dont know how i feel about sokka RN but it may change later on) the Bending is what got me excited even more like any excuse for a character to showcase there powers, magic whatever it is im here for it!
Dunno if anyone has mentioned it; but the shot after Sozen’s commit was the Fire Nation attacking the Air Temple, so that shot of Sozen’s commit was its original appearance from 100 years ago. While the commit being seen earlier would be cool, it wouldn’t really make sense as commits aren’t that slow.
Avatar is Back? I’m actually Excited for this one! ❤️
Hey, Sam! Been a fan for a while now. Love your content on Sonic the Hedgehog. Was a bit surprised when I saw your trailer reaction to Avatar, but it was a welcomed surprise nonetheless. I’m glad to see you’re also an ATLA fan. If you’re willing, please make more content on it. A reaction series for when it releases would be dope & I’d definitely watch it. I’m sure many others would too. Thanks for everything and take care, Sam! God bless! 🔥🔥
This is Aang in Kyoshi costume I guess. Can’t wait to see Kyoshi herself
I don't know about you guys but to me, Aang has a very similar personality to Sonic which is one of the many reasons why he's my favourite character in the show.
The past avatars are going to have more of a role in this version. That could be Kyoshi possessing Aang to help save her island.
You're right. I think that is what Aang did in the show, he disguised himself as a Kioshi warrior.
YES AVATAR IS RETURNING
I'm cautiously optimistic. That trailer absolutely SCREAMED Avatar. From music to bending to costumes to CGI. It all looks great. We saw the Kyoshi warriors, we saw the Hei Bai forest and we saw the Agni Kai between Zuko and Ozai so that means they're really planning on doing it all. It's just a matter of will thsey nail the dialogue and will the relationships between all these characters feel genuine and like Avatar. I'm actually proper excited!
Yes, more avatar!
Someone make an edit where sam is talking about Aang in the glider shot, but you just hear the battle bus sound, then Fortnite pops up on screen, edit with sam saying it looks amazing from the next clip, so next time he's doing a stream he can react to it around the ending time of the stream
The first thing I thought of whenever the trailer dropped, I thought of Sam’s reaction to it after that video whenever he talked about the creators leaving, glad to see you react to it man!
i love how they arransement the avatar mode music theme so well, that guitar part tho
I thought those were flaming trebuchet volleys being thrown at the Air Temple…. look closely. It’s powered up firebenders FLYING in like Azula. You can see them adjusting the flames downward as they land (think like how Iron Man does it)
I'll have to check this out when it releases! Great video as always, Sam!! 😁
FINALLY after years we get the really good adaptation avatar series and it's not like the movie design thank gosh it's finally happen can't wait to see this
I’m so happy
My heart man, i can't 😢
Yes more avatar content!
Yes please
Im ROFL on that "eye infection" comment 😭🤣
I’m subscribing for avatar, great vid
I’m also a huge avatar fan. I’m obsessed with it. And I love everything about the series. The trailer looks amazing. I’m sooo excited with this Netflix version.
If it makes you feel any better, those "og" creators did nothing but make things worse, they wanted to change so many key points and from what I heard the actors and Netflix were firm on the fact that it needed to stick to the original because of how important it was. We are getting a few new things it seems though! Like how the war started with the air nomads wiped out! And we're possibly getting the full Agni Kai in which Zuko got his scar. Another thing to possbily relieve you, they chose the actors on personality as well. The one playing Sokka is known to be a funny guy and has martial arts training which fits the only non-bender warrior of the group, not to mention the one playing Zuko has had martial arts training in the past too. Even the one playing Aang has had martial arts training before! They're getting actual martial artists in this! And notice the race is on point too especially for the fire nation. I love this fact so much. All the crucial characters who do bending or are fighters, all of their actors seem to have martial arts training which all the bending styles in the animated show all are based on martial arts.
It's crazy that Avatar is almost 20 years old (came out in 2005).
9:42 I can actually understand why M Night felt the need to change that because yeah it is an inconsistency, if the first 3 elements require a source to bend from then the 4th one should too. But of course what he failed to realize is that it's an inconsistency that was necessary for the story to make sense. If all of the elements require a source then the firebenders would technically be the weakest of them since air, water, and earth are all far more common to come across. But if the firebenders can just make their fire from nothing then they would instantly be the most powerful benders aside from airbenders, hence why they were wiped out first. It's an inconsistency yes, but it's one the story needs to make sense.
Avatar studios is still doing related work is what you meant about the creators
Yes Sam plz do a vlog about each episode I love avatar the last airbender as well been watching it as kid and Korra as well and OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHOW MAN great video dude 🔥
Well that was certainly different than usual lol. This looks pretty cool 👀
My favorite show of all time, the aesthetics looks good, just hoping the characterization is done well, we know the personalities, where each character starts there journey, and ends it, let's hope they get that right. 🙏💯
Amazing video !
The comet is there because it is 100 years in the past, Sozin is wiping out all of the Airbender's during the comet, its the beginning of the 100 year war.......

ah you got it later in the video 😅
Every time I see Appa I get a little emotional. More then any of the human characters even. I'm not a hard core fan but loved the animated series. However, the writing left me wanting for more. It's the one area, more then any other that concerns me. Although all the characters are great and I agree with Sam on this point. But the less then stellar writing for some of them brought the characters down a peg. My animated ranking for this show is 8/10. I'm hoping to get a 9 or a 10 out of the live action series. *Fingers Crossed* I'd also like to add that I was 48 when I saw this. Clearly I was not the target audience and clearly older then most people who view this show with such reverence. I hope for the hardcore fans you can fall in love with it all over again. I hope they make enough changes to make it feel fresh but not too many. You don't want to lose what makes the show so good.
At first, I wasn’t really excited but after seeing the teaser, oh you bet your ass I’m EXCITED. I’m happy that it’s coming out soon and SAM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A REACTION SERIES TO THIS. I would be down for that and just more Avatar content in general
I feel like the scene where Zuko got the scare from his dad (Fire Lord Ozai) might be controversial because you don’t see it in the original series, just him screaming. Ozai gave Zuko that scare off screen. That’s just my opinion
We see YOUNG Azula in flashbacks
I don't know if it's been said, but one of the producers of the show confirmed that it was Gyatso talking over the trailer.
I hope this does the source material justice. The 2010 movie was so bad that the guy who played zuko never starred in commercial movies because he was so disappointed with how it turned out that way
So the part where you see the comet ☄️ that’s when the air temple was attacked 100 years ago right before and disappeared. That’s the fire nation attacking the air nomads. That’s why you see the comet because it’s how the fire nation wiped them out the first time. So the very first scene you see is the backstory.
This looks impressive and promising I hope this delivers
I can't believe this show is coming on my Birthday
You got the part with the comet wrong, it’s the comet before which Zosin used to destroy the air temples that’s shown after, thus a sequence from 100 years ago
My ONLY main issue with this teaser is that we saw Ozai face....if yall remember, before season 3, whenever Ozai appeared like in a flashback, its always been a darkened face....we didnt get to see how face until we met him in person in season 3. Still hype though.

It's kind of pointless now as everyone knows who Ozai is. Just like how it would of been pointless to not show Anakin transform into Vader in the prequel Star Wars movies because everyone already knew who he was.
Saw a theory that the Airbender who flew down into Kyoshi island was actually Kyoshi herself, and it was a flashback. I hope that’s true.
It also isn’t fire arrows! The firebenders are flying! You see the fire turn vertical and you can barely see them land once it changes the scene
I know its far down the road but I can't wait to see Azula and Zuko live action agni kai. The blue and orange 🔥 its gonna be beautiful!!!
You got your thousandth like from me! You said things I never thought about too! One question: WHERE IS JET?!?

We didn't see June either
Cant wait to see a season 1 review
Sozin knew the next Avatar would be an airbinder,so they attacked the air nation first.
Not into Avatar, but it's genuinely really nice to see Sam be hyped and passionate over something that isn't Sonic.
We need more Avatar videos
to make it clear azula part is flash back of zuko before adnikai to father of zuko and zuko
the reason why you see an inscription when Aang hits the avatar state is because your seeing Rava enter his body
cannot wait for book 2 to see toph...they better nail the casting for her character...
Dont forget the producers behind this did one piece as well.
Jus realized from watchin this that tha design in his arrow is Rava
Wasn’t there a comet that shows up in the beginning of Book 1 where Aang needs to go Avatar Roku’s temple in order to communicate with Roku’s spirit for the 1st time?
Looks pretty good. Just hope it actually is pretty good
I never watched Avatar, but I hope it's nothing like Netflix's Cowboy Bebop where the trailers looked cool that adds fanservice, but only to show they did almost nothing faithful to the original anime that it's supposed to be based on.
If this series does well... We gotta get a toph and zuko field trip lol 😂
OKAY COLOR ME IMPRESSED
At the very least we’re gonna have desktop worthy shots
One note. They cast Avatar Kyoshi. The part where you weren't sure if it was Aang was either him or it was Avatar Kyoshi. I like that they put a design in his arrow too because that's one thing about the movie I liked. A solid color is better for animation, but looks cheap in live action. Sokka and Katara look better than the movie to me, but I still would have though they'd cast people more tan for the roles to look more like the show. Sokka looks like a white guy still to me. lol Also I think he either doesn't have the ponytail or it's small and flat on his head (look at the shot of him with Suki). I can see why they'd show Azula and Ozai earlier, since this isn't a cartoon and hiding the face would be odd here. We'll probably just see less of them and over time it'll gradually so more and more. They also cast Mae and Ty Lee already so... Another thing the movies did right, imo, was the environments. So to me a lot of shots here actually look like The Last Airbender. Except Omashu. Which I DO like the design of. But it is clearly CGI. lol A lot of locations have that CGI painted look. I don't hate it though. As for the fire bending, I prefer it like the show. But I will say in defense of the movie, needing a source does ALSO make sense just depending on how you look at bending. Air also needs a source, but it's everywhere. Fire's advantage then would be that it's destructive and spreads. But I prefer it being like the show where they DO still have a source but the source comes from their own chi and the sun. Hence the lack of fire at night or during a full moon.

@@mochiyeosang1908 Ah okay you're right. So small and flat on his head. Kinda like in The Last Airbender movie.
I hope they were taking notes from the live action One Piece series. I think Avatar will be fine because it looks like they know what fans want....not the broad audience.... what fans want to see. After all they can look at the succuss of the Sonic movies, Mario Movie, Pokemon movie, and FNAF movie seeing the reception of what fans of a particular franchise enjoy. Main points: Listen to the fans, be respectful of the original material, be funny
We better see bloodbending in this show.
I’ve heard you mention this from time to time. I’m not a big fan of it cause I never got into it , but glad you love it Sam.
Looks beautiful but the acting and performance is what matters hopefully they nail the story and play the characters right
Azula looks younger in that shot, if that is her.
yeah , im a scared too , , because considering the standard we have today , , they may considering to make a romantic interest between aang & soka

Netflix said they won't do stuff like that. They said that, aside from a few adjustments to give a more mature theme, the live adaptation will stick pretty close to the series.
I know what you mean, Sam. Here’s hoping Netflix treats this beloved property with the respect it deserves.
I think they wrote the kyoshi warriors episode or something about kyoshi
PLEASE cover the Avatar stuff😭
I thought the comet was in the start as like a 'flashback' of the start of the war.... since it happens every hundred years? I think that was it.....
