I don't think Azula is given enough credit, like if you re-watch her fight with Aang, you can see that she knows the water is a problem, that its deflecting her fire, so she decides to completely evaporate it with that double kick, same with her front flip kick breaking through the rock. Gotta admire her intuition

I agree, without talking about any spoilers, we see in future episodes more proof that she is an extremely capable fighter, and a very interesting character. I just find it a shame they didn't analyse the fight at all...

Even without going into future episodes man, all we've seen so far of her is that only Iroh can take her on. The first time Aang dueled with her he needed the help of five other people to draw a stalemate, and now on round two he would have been completely dead if not for the slur blowing up right on time. Azula is a beast.

I love how in the episode Zuko alone the lady that gave birth to hope was almost mugged by Zuko when he was starving but he decided to leave them alone. Then they run into Aang at his most vulnerable time when he’s lost all hope. Then when they are all hopeful again and get into the city she has already given birth to Hope and Iroh meets the baby and Zuko doesn’t even notice that was the couple whose lives he spared and now they all have hope. Every time I rewatch this show I notice a detail that makes it just a little deeper in the aspect of how much they thought about the symbolism in the plot.

LMAO its so dark down here, i cant see a thing Toph: ohhh what a nightmare (Priceless) Favorite scene that wasn't shown was iroh flirting with the ticket lady. 'Your pretty easy on the eyes handsome *meow* LOL. Zuko looked so disgusted.

Best thing about watching Bilindwave, is it feels like I am seeing these episodes again for the first time! It's brilliant :D

Yea that's why reactions are so cool, they let you see through the eyes of a new viewer again lol. These guys are especially good since they actually discuss, theorize and analyze for half the length of the video haha

Aang`s entire fighting style is about using his speed and flexibility to out maneuver his opponent until he gets an opening to strike. So while he doesn't often use his top speed, he's always moving quicker than his opponents.

One of my favorite moments in the series is Aang running up and down the wall to gain momentum for hitting that rock wedge on top of the drill. Simply epic!

This was always my favorite episode of Avatar while watching it. It's great to see it again.

I love this episode. Really showed the dynamic of the team. And a great confrontation between Aang and Azula with that music! So great!

I've been rewatching these and I just have to say that I really appreciate Calvin's poker face. Eric started talking about metalbending maybe being a newly-discovered art at 12:47 and Calvin's face doesn't even twitch.

The reason, in my opinion, that they went with a drill instead of ladders is that if the wall was 100 meters high and you see a 101 meter high ladder, then the earth-benders could just make the wall 10 meters higher instantly and now you're fucked (if you're the Fire Nation).

I absolutely love Azula man(I didn't at first) but the rewatch I finally came around that she is an amazing villain.

And then the next few episodes are lit also :D

2:20 - There's actually an old fan theory that Ty Lee might actually have some Air Nomad ancestry... a theory owed mostly to her techniques and GREY eyes than anything else, mind you, but it's interesting to think about. Of course, if she DID have latent bending ability, one would think with her awareness of auras and such she'd have tapped into it by now (knowingly or not); then again, perhaps not. Not to say that EVERYONE of Air Nomad ancestry (especially distant ancestry) would definitely be a bender, mind you...

If there were several other waterbenders and/or earthbenders there to contain it with Toph while Katara focused on using her breath to steadily freeze it, maybe that could have worked, but the implication I took was that it was already taking all their effort to contain it as is...

StygianTraveler141 Especially since she didn't have anyone to teach her - she was self-taught until she got Pakku as an instructor. But I wouldn't call her a prodigy, exactly; Katara's depiction feels a lot more natural because while she's certainly talented, she works HARD... Granted, it's not like, say, Aang or Azula (don't get me started on Toph) are slouches either, but when you consider their track records - Aang became a master air-bender at 12, Azula by 14 can bend lightning - it's even more impressing how well Katara improves; she's not crazy strong like either of them, but she's dedicated enough that she quickly surpassed Aang in becoming a master water-bender... This being, need I remind you DESPITE the fact that Aang took to THAT bending art like a duck to water, enough that Katara was initially jealous; he struggled with earth-bending (and fire-bending, briefly), but water- and air-bending came naturally to him in a way many can envy. Katara and Zuko, I feel, are of the main cast the more realistically-depicted in terms of their learning curves - I'd even go as far as suggesting that if Zuko didn't have such a tremendous level of emotional baggage at this point (albeit not without reason), his own hard work at his bending discipline would be paying off all the more... Not that Katara DOESN'T have issues, but she mostly handles them better than Zuko does.

Personally not a fan of korra. Korra is to avatar as the prequels are to Starwars. They explain to much wich in turn ruins the lore and mysticism of the story. And their characters are Unlikeable and forgetable (except tenzin and son). But I am curious on their input in korra

I personally love Korra more. Like you said they actually explain stuff and the connection to the last series just makes the show better. The fact that what happened in Legend of Aang actually affects Korra is cool. They also get into more difficult problems than just Aang debating if he should kill. Korra tackles insults that are relate to the real world and i think that is a step up. The writing is also better in my opinion.

How can anyone think korra has good writing period. They focus on the wrong characters. The development of characters is lack luster. The lore is shit. Their are plot holes to kingdom come. Avatar the last airbender is way better than LOK. Not as an opinion. It's a fact. It beats korra in every category. 13:25 - Worth pointing out that coal, which is essentially fossilised wood, has been shown to be bendable back in Book One, but the key word there is FOSSILISED. It's basically a transformed substance due to millions of years underground, and so no longer the same as regular wood even though it once was... unless in the Avatarverse, coal does NOT originate from fossilised trees. ;-P

This show had AMAZING character arcs
