Avanti West Coast's NEW Class 805 Evero's are NOW IN SERVICE on the WCML!

Ойын-сауық

Units: 805 001 + 805 011
Service: London Euston-Birmingham New Street
Route in Video: Full Route
Cost of Trip: £27.35 - Advance Single Standard Class (with Railcard)
Punctuality: Departed on time. | Arrived 5 minutes late.
This week has seen Avanti West Coast's BRAND NEW Class 805 Evero's enter service on the West Coast Mainline! I thought while I had some free time this week, I'll head down to London to go try one of these trains out!
Thankfuly, I booked my ticket on the Avanti West Coast app, so I can choose my seat and avoid been selected a seat with a thick pillar in the way. Always handy to book through apps sometimes.
These Evero IET's are set to be replacing all the Super Voyager's very soon, some of which are going to CrossCountry. Also, I happened to pronounce Evero incorrectly too!
The big question is... What do I think to these trains? Are they better than the Voyagers they are replacing? Do they TILT around corners? Well, let's take one of these new trains and find out!

    Apparently I hear that there is going be some work done on the west coast mainline to allow the class 805 and 807 to reach 125mph in the future

    I hope you're right that this will be the case. It's just a shame these trains can't tilt and especially having to slowdown to 90mph at Leighton Buzzard doesn't help with this either.

    Great video Reece 👍 My fist impression riding one yesterday was that the seats are a bit too hard , although on the plus side, acceleration is better than the Voyagers and Pendolinos The 175 at Rugby was on its way from Landore (Swansea) to Ely for storage

    Brilliant video Reece! Nice to see what's on offer with these new trains. This is the first time I have seen the interiors, and to be honest I'm not impressed. The interiors seem very bland and basic when compared to other new classes of trains. Still looks like everything has been squeezed in to a small place. But of course thats just my view! 🙂👍

    These trains must be put on direct SailRail services from Hull, Leeds, Manchester Victoria to Holyhead, with laws passed through Parliament in both England and Wales as appropriate and this must become a priority for any new U.K. government to make this a reality in the light of the failure of HS2, along with a commitment to completing the high speed rail tunnel under the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin

    Disappointing that, yet again, unlike other major countries that are speeding up their services, we are purchasing stock that slows them down. Also, as with the Voyagers, we'll see 5 car vice 10 on some services which I see regularly now. Avanti should also be looking at reinstating the Euston - Shrewsbury route with a proper interval service. Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton (and on to London) services are hopelessly oversubscribed, particularly the TfW trains that are packed all the time and often reduced to just 2 carriages and provided with outmodes and outdated Class 150s regularly. The 805s would have no problem working such services and we are talking about an ex-Class 1 route from the Capital.

  • @ReecesTrains

    @ReecesTrains

    Yeah, I agree with some of the services being withdrawn and slower services between London and Birmingham. The lack of TILT was disappointing although these weren't built for it unlike the Pendolino and Super Voyager.

    Most people don't give a shit about this so long as they get a reliable and good value service. Great news for the enthusiasts, doesn't mean Jack for the paying commuters. And Avanti are nowhere near providing a good service yet

    travelled on 805005 out of Birmingham in first class. the seats are rubbish. the announcements with the electric voice were way too loud and the announcements made by Isaac the train manager were echoing echoing echoing (you get the idea) and very hard to understand.. sat in a single seat two rows from the back of the coach and there is no overhead storage shelf, that stops at the row in front. the area behind the driver in first class had some catering equipment in including a toaster. But the shop onboard had no card machine or any float for change so you had to have the exact change. But know I know its over 2 quid for a can of coke I would not bother anyway. ( for another fiver you could get from Edinburgh to Newcastle with LUMO). The reason I always put down to lack of comfort on these Hitachi units is they are designed for the Japanese market and us Brits do not fit their business model. When was the last time you saw a 6 foot 6 tall 18 stone Japanese person. brand new units restricted to 110 m.p.h. not so much as rolling stock more of a laughing stock.

    Why can’t we actually build comfy train seats. Granted these seats are better than LNER, GWR and TPE iets BUT they are still not super comfy and they should be. It should be the easiest bit of a train to get right.

  • @ReecesTrains

    @ReecesTrains

    just another horrid 800 class train, bad seats, limited to 110mph, no tilt and i certainly would never travel second class in one of these seems just as bad as the voyager's second class.

  • @rickerbyct
    @rickerbyct14 күн бұрын

    So there you go. In the early 2000s the tax payer funds a multi billion pound upgrade of the WCML to allow tilting trains to run at 125, then 20 years later a failing private train operator introduces conventional trains to the route and speeds fall back again to those achieved over 20 years ago and that’s progress. Now the dogma and ideology has hit the buffers and we are in the verge of having a national train network again this ridiculous nonsense will end - surely Avanti are so in breach of contract they can be one of the first to lose their contract

  • @ReecesTrains

    @ReecesTrains

    14 күн бұрын

    Yeah it is unfortunate why trains have be capped at 110mph just because they weren't built to tilt. I'd much prefer a TILTING Evero rather than a conventional train that has to slow down.
