The reality is if you are good at upholstery you don’t need all the attachments. The more you do it the less you will use the attachments. Really 80% skill 20% tools. Triple feed or double feed… both work fine and both have pros and cons 😉

Good luck. Hope that works for you. I have done upholstery for years. It takes a long time to get good at it. The trick is doing it efficiently. You may do it, but it may take you forever. If your time is not worth that much to you, then you're on the right track. Good luck.

Wow! Awesome video. I need to learn this for a couple European projects we have. It all started for us with our 66 VW bug that we sold years ago and have regretted it ever since. Moved on to a 68 912 so I am looking forward to learning how to do this. Your other videos are awesome too. Thanks for doing this.

Very informative! I'm a photographer by trade but I've always enjoyed working on German cars. I really want to learn to restore car interiors and I've just bought a sawing machine. I looked all over for something used but the prices were too high. So I bought a new Juki 1541 (it was $300 more than the consew 206) Thank you for posting!

Thanks man . I have a lot of business in color work and minor repairs. I always turn down work regarding reupholstery and I was literally going to buy any old machine. This really helped a lot w guiding me into the right purchase. I wish you got a commission on the consew link bc I’m buying + all attachments you mentioned. Thank you again and looking forward to your videos on technique

Yes -- I would be interested in following you along in sewing ---- I thought I heard you say a Sears 111 --- would be able to sew automotive ---- I don't know if attachments were available for it --- but ---- as you said things are so expensive now ---- if one just took his time --- lined up the pieces and feed it through -- it should come out ok ---- as like you --if I can make it -- I'll have a good feeling about it --- might not be perfectly straight as the fixtures would do -- just take your time -------- Thank You for the video ---- PS ---- What's the name of your other channel? ------- Rodney

I had a 225 machine. I got rid of it because it couldnt handle thick threads like 207 and 277 and the bobbin was too small and the no reverse kimda sucked but you could learn how to lock a stitch without. I saw a mod with the height adjustment so that it could sew thicker threads. The 226 model is the same but has reverse

Question: What is meant by a "Compound Walking foot" machine and what's the added benefit?

  • @garygerard4290

As I understand it there's the standard home sewing machine that mostly women sew wedding dresses on 😆 These have a single way of moving the material past the needle - a 'feed dog' that is below the needle. Then there's the walking foot that has the presser foot, above the feed dog that comes down and squeezes the material between it and the feed dog and moves the material away from you. And then there's the kind of machine that when the needle has reached the bottom of the stroke It and the presser foot and the feed dog All move the material back, away from you. Check out Sailrite Sewing Machines, they have MaNy ViDeOs on line and great customer service. A guy that has also many videos is Jasonofalltrades - he goes over different machines and gives tips on sewing. www.youtube.com/@thejasonofalltrades/videos

That looked like before I let a guy paint it while I was in the hospital. I wanted the Beryl green and tan seats. The paint I gave him was already set to go and mix and paint but he had left and one of the guys in the shop painted it yellow that was what the ex wife told me and I had a back operation. I should have done it myself I having done 2 model A's and a 31 chevy sedan that came out real well. I told this man he fix it or else and I was not feeling well and could hardly walk but was so upset he would not let me get the car but I had given a man the keys and told him where he kept his key for the gate to get in and he got it back to me. Yes the police showed up but I had the title and showed them the original color and they told me to get in contact with the Better Business and file a complaint. I never did. it was a waste of money and will never trust anyone with anything of mine again.

@Mike Fn Garage lol, you can’t learn upholstery by watching a KZread, upholstery at least, 90%, skill, and less than 10% equipment and attachments. I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. I’ve ran an upholstery business for over 28 years… bad upholstery is cheap. Good upholstery is not cheap.

Complaining about the cost for new upholstery. 10 years ago I used to get 100’ rolls of carpet shipped free, today it’s over a $1.00 per pound,5 rolls isn’t cheap. Some people are still under the impression that Chits free, it’s not. I find people who complain out prices have no problem pissing money away for useless things, like $8.00 for a $2.00 burger.
