starters and essentially electric motors and electric motors consist primarily of copper windings, magnets, and a driveshaft spinning on two bearings. there's not much more other than the bendix pinion gear that will engage in the ring gear on a flywheel. sounds like they are a wholesaler for starter parts. the parts are in turn bought in large batches by other companies that put them back together with the proper casings and with knowledge as to the cars with which they will work. they buy them from junk yards, disassemble and clean them and sort them by some criteria that their customer find convient.

They are a wholesale distributor of finished rebuilt starter motors.

@@classicperformance the answer given by the gentleman to your first question upon seeing the disassembled starter parts in a variety of trash cans (which immediately came to my mind too) was very unclear. as were the answers, couched somewhat differently, to your subsequent questions on the same topic. anyway, upon re-watching the video i think he said something about getting the part numbers "of the cores" from the junk yards that sell them to him, or something like that.

@@hueyhoolihan582 true, all the cores are batched according to application. You can also see the cardboard that separates the various lots if in the same storage container/bin. It's a somewhat complex process of inventory as you might have gathered. Thanks for the interest.

The old guy likely knows the ins and outs of that company like the back of his hand but perhaps not the greatest at explaining it lol

Yes, he's been running that show for almost 50 years as a supplier to retail distribution outlets. I learned the biggest expense of time/labor is all the cosmetics. The actual functional rebuild is pretty straight forward and quick.
