Autometer Transmission Temperature Gauge install in my 1991 V2500 - 4L80E

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Installing the Autometer Transmission Temperature gauge in my 1991 V2500 Suburban (3/4 Ton, 4x4). Transmission is a 4L80-E, which I believe is the first year of them in this model truck. Since I am dropping the pan, I'm also going to change the transmission filter and pan gasket.

4l80e and 4l60e both have a trans temp sending unit hole on them on the drivers side on the front of the transmission. it wouldve saved a lot of trouble to just take the plug bolt out and put a sending unit in there instead of tapping into the pan.

Nice video. Where did you get the bolt in adapter for the temperature sending unit?

Hey - good video, very useful for my plans to install the same auto meter trans temp-sensor/gauge in the oil pan of my cherokee xj 4.0. You did not weld the Hayden Adapter screw on to the oil pan, just bolted this down. Does this stay connected/fixed all the time without leaking ?? Thanks.

Hi there. For the few months (3 or 4?) I had this pan mounted, nope it didn't leak. After posting this video, I noticed other videos that more focused on the drain installation that had folks welding it in. I guess I got lucky - maybe over time it would have? I have since changed out the stock pan for a MagHytec deep aluminum one - from which already had provisions for the temperature sender.
