Automatic Spool Knitter, Knitting mill, Tricotin, i-cord machine, Strickmühle

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

With this machine you can make cords for macrame :) In the future I will show you how you can use this to make necklaces, collars, scarfs, bracelets, etc. How to Bracelet, watch here: • Warm and Soft Winter B...
Instructions for use:
A) Affix handle (5). Thread the yarn (7) first through the lower guide (1) from the outside, then through the upper guide (2) and finally down through the central tube (3) of the knitting mill.
B) Make sure that the tongues of all the needles (4) are pointing downwards and hold the knitting mill in your left hand. Also hold the yarn tightly in your left hand.
C) Slowly turn the handle clockwise (5) until the first hook (4) picks up the yarn. Turn the handle forward only (in the direction of the arrow, never turn it backwards). Then pass the yarn behind the second needle, i.e. this needle is missed out. Continue to turn slowly until the third hook picks up the yarn. Hook the weight (6) onto the end of the yarn. Pass the yarn behind the fourth needle, missing it out. Continue to turn slowly.
D) On the second turn all the hooks (4) pick up the yarn. From the third turn onwards the handle can be turned faster. Move the weight (6) up now and again.
E) When beginning a new ball of wool, knot the yarn together, cut off the ends of the yarn and continue to turn slowly. Take care that the knot does not catch in the threading guides.
F) When you have finished, cut the yarn and continue turning until the knitted cord is thrown off the needles. Pull the end of the yarn through the open stitches tightly with a wool needle and stitch up.
Tightly twisted wool, suitable for pin gauges 3 - 3.5 mm, gives the best results.
If the wool is not of a very good quality, i.e. if the wool is somewhat coarse, it will not glide so well which can lead to malfunctions. This also applies to very fibrous or fluffy wool such as mohair. During use, always make sure that the tongue of the needle which grasps the yarn is clipped downwards, the hooks close tightly and then completely release the yarn. The yarn must run loosely from the ball of wool (7). The weight should not pull the yarn downwards until the third hook grasps the yarn (3).
1. Lower guide
2. Upper guide
3. Tube
4. Needles
5. Rotate handle in this direction
6. Weight
7.Pull yarn out off ball

I think that all the people in the peanut gallery who are negative nellies have never had mobility problems or joint pain. I am glad that y'all can whip these out with four nails on a spool, but not everyone can. So having a machine that can help someone else do what they otherwise could not do is a good thing, especially when they don't want to give up on their hobbies, artwork, or ability to create things.

I have a Clover "Wonder Knitter" but it doesn't have a crank or a weight so it's much slower, but this is really nice if you want to turn out things very quickly and probably with more professional results. I've gotta get one! Thanks for the video!

From what I see, the difference between this one and the Embellish Knit by Caron, is that the Embellish has a weight with a grip, much like a chunky heavy clothes pin, which enables you to change its position every now and then, when the cord becomes long. With this one, if you have a really long cord, it will touch the floor, and not weigh anymore. So you see in this video she has to loop the done cord and secure it with elastic bands and then secure the upper part with a clothespinm which is somehow fussy. I like the weighted clothespin thingie much better.

Tips - 1: Turn the handle at a medium pace (slow and steady wins the race); 2: Keep the cord (i-cord) coming out of the bottom of the spool knitter weighted (use the included clip on) and free hanging (see next tip); 3: Store i-cord still in progress by winding up and placing it in a zip-lock baggie, just zip it as close to the cord as possible and/or using another clothes clip (or small office clip, the kind that has flip over arms, not this kind📎) to hold the bag to the cord. Bonus tip: Sitting/standing up high (like on the top riser of the bleachers, or at the top of some stairs) and letting the cord dangle over the edge (as long as it's the cord and not you, and won't get caught on anything or anybody) gives you lots more yardage before you have to wind up the i-cord. 😁 Have fun!
