My brother-in-law has rapid onset dementia with softening of the brain. He is no living in a nursing home and has started hallucinating and showing anger where he never use to before. He has a feeding tube because he don't remember how to swallow, for 2 weeks the hand that was crippled in a stroke 5years ago he was picking stuff up opening and shutting the hand no problem then as quick as it came the ability to use that hand left again. His Dr said he has 50% brain left that has not died it's very sad to watch

Can these go into periods of remission only to relapse later in life?
