I can figure out how to do a lot of these sorts of things, but I figure I am doing them in a janky way that e.g. makes it harder to go back and make changes later. I love this little series because it shows me the 'right way' to do it.

Another way, and one that avoids splines since I sometimes find them problematic later in design, is to simply add a vertical line from the center point of the lower tube, make it vertical, then make your curve tangent to the construction line on the higher tube and tangent to the vertical line extending above the lower point. There is only one solution for that set of constraints, so the new line will be scaled accordingly (putting its top even with the higher tube) and the sketch will be fully constrained. Another advantage to this is it survives changes in the initial tube heights without changes to the curvature of the joining tube. If either initial tube moves up or down, assuming the lower does remain lower than the original upper, the curvature will not change in any way.

Yes, that would be both more elegant and more robust. I would model the whole tube with one sweep.

What I learned most today from your video is how to create planes off features and to utilize that tool in this such occasion. Great Video very informative and I like your pace as well. In the future, I would like to know why fusion does not allow certain things while also giving us a solution ! So I have something to wrap my brain around learning this complex software. Thanks for this!

@@learnitalreadyAbsolutely, for starters I love it that you are making a video based on your followers questions as not a lot of people do this. I am sure others have had or have the same issues. I liked the offset construction line that differed from the X origin. The projection and the spline tools are something I need to use more and this shows why. Just all around a good video. I would love to see you dive into CAM at some point especially on non flat objects like this. I have been looking at some Metal CAM vids you have but would love to see more round type of CAMing. One example would be the TITANS Hammer. There are zero vids on it and it has a lot of curves and its 2 sided. Just a thought. Keep up the great work.

I haven’t memorized all the features of Fusion. There are a lot of different aspects that I’d still like to learn. However, what I do know has come from many hours of learning and problem solving. I’m happy to share my limited knowledge with ones like you that are willing to learn. Keep up the good work!

Hi! Thanks for the video. Could you maybe do video about designing custom threads. For example lets say that I have this water bottle or a toy bolt which I lost/broke the cap or nut, and in need of 3d print a new one.

Hi and thank you for your comment and request. Yes, I’d like to make a video on how to make custom threads. I have actually created a custom thread for a lightbulb as shown in the lamp series. All models are available for my KZread and Patreon members. As for custom threads in general, they usually require an advanced level of thinking outside the box, research, and modelling skills. I am happy to try and make a tutorial in the future as to how to create one kind of custom thread with the basic principles in how to go about such a task. Stay tuned!

looking for a video that ACTUALLY teaches hwo to design and plan and work thorugh the steps to make a functional andcomplicate compact moving mechanims... ( i have 4cones.. that have to move 4 slighty diffrent but nearly the same distances in a straight line and needs to go form pos 1 to pos2 on a flat surface ( exposed) by a mechanism in the body .. i can send a sketch ) if it was one and a wheel i could do it.. but 4 so colsoe and overlaping paths.. in a compact space .. i wkno it can be done but donw t knwo hwo to get there from my good modellling skills help ? dm
