I’ve recently got the Type C - I’ve been collecting 1:18-scale cars for about 20 years and I’ve been lucky enough to get some really nice ones, but that CMC Type C is truly special.

Poor Typ A! Definitely NOT the type of corner these cars were designed for; actually, I'm surprised the Typ D took it so easily! As for the C - good and very brave (considering the value) driving to use wheelspin!!!

@@paulcaswell2813 In the video from Zwickau (kzread.info/dash/bejne/n62sr9edpKm-Zso.html ) he seems to really floor it on the short straight. It looks and sounds (the Doppler effect!) scary as fuck. Fortunately, the cars were already designed to accommodate giant balls, so they did not have to change anything on the car to put him in.

The Type D had a shorter wheelbase and De Dion rear axle, the latter probably helped it remain stable going around the corner at this speeds.

Good grief the sound of a lusty V16 just makes me so happy! I can only imagine the sound at full speed! Today's F1 doesn't even come close with its puny engines and total lack of spectacle!

The first time he got stuck there, I thought maybe he just wasn't familiar with the route. The next time I noticed that each time through, the engine was lugging pretty noticeably and suspect that the car might have an especially tall set of gears in it. Maybe it was geared more for SPA versus Monaco??

That Type A is a replica built by a British company from drawings provided by Audi. None of the real Type A's or B's survived Soviet experimentation and use for other projects.

incredible how many experts here think they could drive better... they probabaly drive their 125hp Opel Astra or VW Passat every day and think they could handle a Auto Union race car. They would end up in a ditch (if they are lucky) or in the next wall. most people complaining wouldnt even find the clutch or the gears.

Well, yeah, if you can catch it. It is noted that with skinny period tyres, and the Auto union's very forward driving position meant that it is very hard to even realize that you actually needed some opposite lock when cornering, and the very torquey engine isn't helping matters.

Oh yeah, the types A (the one that is unable to get round the hairpin turn) and the type C (the one swinging its tail out all the time) had swing rear axles... making it very difficult to know what the back end's gonna do as you slow and and approach a corner, in a race situation...
