    Simon, Is your mini gun an Iwatta LPH 80? If so my question comes in as the recommended inlet pressure is 13 psi which gives 10 psi out of the nozzle. If you are using a different mini gun how would you set up an LPH -80 for success with candy 2 O's using the 102 G which is a 1.0 needle. Love the videos. Thanks, Don

    Ordered a color chart from Coast air brush. I noticed the aluminum base look awesome head on. But when you look at them from the side they look grainy. I can see the black specks of aluminum? Is that normal or did they botch the test panel? The medium isn't that bad but the coarse is more noticeable. Some of the other colors look blotchy and grainy also.

    I sass the black panel and it appears very purple/ reddish? Why is that when it’s 4 coats over a silver? I’m doing a project and have some on order. I plan on shooting a heavy silver flake and stenciling with the candy black but don’t want to see the reddish color, I’m Going with layers of blues.

    I have a small area to paint, 10" X 10". I tried to use my airbrush to apply the candy, and it does not look the greatest, actually it doesn't look like a candy at all. And it feels like sand paper when its done. If I can use an airbrush to paint the candies, what am I doing wrong?

  • @NathanThompsonBlueEyes

    @NathanThompsonBlueEyes

    5 жыл бұрын

    I imagine it would...it's just a mid-coat acrylic medium...if you take off microscopic amounts, it wouldn't really affect it that badly, you could always paint extra layers of midcoat clear to anticipate the masking...

  • @NathanThompsonBlueEyes

    @NathanThompsonBlueEyes

    :-) Ok, next question- I'm a complete newb, btw- can you cure (some/most/all) clear at room temperature? Sellers and forums seem to assume that you've been doing this for years and know all the jargon; most youtubers just show a gimp in a mask spraying on a perfect coat with lots of commentary about how great they/the product/the spray gun is. I love the way you show what can go wrong! The great finish is beautiful to see, but I'd much rather learn the pitfalls before ruining a workpiece. It might help if I let you know what I've got in mind! I've been airbrushing for a long time- scale models, t-shirts, canvas, even invisible repairs to china ornaments! I'd like to try doing a helmet (or three) and some small details on my bike- tattoo the frame, maybe work up to refreshing the bodywork and tank with a suitable candy. But I don't have access to a heated booth or an oven. Is that a show stopper?

  • @SMDesignsAirbrush

    @SMDesignsAirbrush

    8 жыл бұрын

    All 2 pack clear coats are self curing. The heat just speeds up the process. If you only have room temp I would use an extra fast activator (hardener) I never had a booth during most of my career.

    Why are you using a clear base balancer 4030 as an intermediate sealer to prevent candy bleed through when Createx already makes a bleed checker 4040 that is designed for specifically that which is a bleed through blocker? 4030 is made of solvents that are more volatile than the solvent on the 4040 that are less harsh on paint surfaces.. it may look good now but in the long run the actual 4040 bleed checker or (bleed through preventative) will be a better option. If there is secret to what you know, can you please elaborate why you chose the 4030 over the 4040?

  • @SMDesignsAirbrush

    @SMDesignsAirbrush

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Auto Body Everything. All my videos are official Createx videos. If you look at the date you will see we made this video before we brought out the Bleed checker. FYI Your incorrect about solvents in the 4030 effecting the longevity of the paint integrity as I have done this for many years in all manner of applications including automotive and even aviation. Our 4050 is the ideal option to prevent candy dye-back but as you can see the 4030 is still an option (particularly good at preventing whites bleeding). I hope this helps you.

  • @AutoBodyEverything

    @AutoBodyEverything

    I know this is three years old but you can even shoot automotive clear over it, for what I’ve heard. If you’re hesitant, you can also spray the autoborn sealer over your work before using any clear to have a “safety shield “ on your work prior to clear.
