The sambar isn't sweet because that's the way it's made in the Udupi restaurants, which is what most South Indian restaurants in Mumbai are.

Auvial is not about the bhim sir. Its about the cook. The king asked him to cook the left over vegetable chilkas and waste materials. Its listed in assam's class 5 english book.

Ikd what it's in Assam, but in Kerala mythology Bhim made it during the time when Pandavas were hiding and he was hiding as a cook. But on another note im curious, you guys have avial in Assam?🤧

Sadya- is not necessarily a daily affair - it’s more reserved for special occasions - reason - 1. Money - it costs a lot of money to make a sadya - so no one makes it everyday - 2 , time - it takes time to prep and make all the side dishes and the payasam(Kheer) . So in an average malayali household - rice + 3 side dishes is a typical daily affair + you may indulge a bit more with some papad and achar once in a while . Restaurants are always restaurants - they create their own backstories 😝

As a Malayali, I can say that Not all Malayalis eat Fish and cutlet is not even part of Kerala cuisine. We have large number of vegetarians too, unfortunately Kerala's delicious vegan alternative ges stumped out because of its obsession to Fish, Beef and Chicken.

@@DeeeeV106 Actually it is very Andhra thing to add ghee in rice while having Sambaar, Dal, Podi, Pickles, Kurma curries etc. Ghee cuts down the spice levels in the curries and pickles and brings nice flavor to it.

Most Malayalis these days are multicultural that makes them authentic it is in our culture to travel and adapt.....Ghee is usually added to dal to start a Sadhya meal... everything else on that table was Malayali.

They defiantly missed serving tapioca and fish curry with bird's eye chilli chutney !! 😂 It's a combo unique to Kerala like puttu and kadla curry . Could have served him the changalikodan Nendran Banana or jackfruit halwa or payasam -- again things that are quite unique to Kerala.
