I live in Minnesota and a buddy of mine has always wanted one. He found one for 600 bucks lol. Never been in a car yet. Cant wait to put it in something and melt the tires off

You should watch the entire journey of the Cresta. From when MCM built it and ran 9.9 to what Benny's done now, running a PB of 8.3 here in Australia. 👍

@@IC3XR That's cute. Maybe read the post itself where I'm only talking about the Cresta you dipshit. 🤦 The ONLY 6sec Barra is the ex-Vincent Noble Dodge Avenger Pro Stock chassis drag car owned and run by Dyno-Mite performance. For street cars, it's a 7.7sec 1/4 by RIPSS.

I've never heard of that engine but hopefully more of them show up in swaps over here! That's almost like a Ford 2JZ lol

Drove a barra for a living for six years -driving taxis. Quite beefy without a turbo. It essentially derives from the humble pushrod six cylinder used in the original U.S 1959/60 Falcon compact that Australia started assembling in 1960 before they developed it further with newer models went their own way with it.

I am so impressed with the FORD BARRA engine.

And when all else fails, nothing screams swap quite like a fox body.💪

The knowledge of this guy is unbelievable.

If we can get at least half the aftermarket parts for our Atlas 4200 Ameri-Berra like they have for those Ford Barra motors? Ohhh man that would be beautiful 🥰👍🏿 GM dropped the ball on our Atlas 4200's! Dang emissions 😡

Great engines. You can use them for drags and big horsepower, but they are also great in stock trim for street use. I own a stock Ford FG G6ET which has a turbo Barra engine. Most run ZF 6 speed gearboxes from BMW and they are generally considered faster than the manual. So smooth, huge torque down low, and strong. Good for cruising in a big heavy car.

@@DR-br5gb lots of guys run stock gearboxes up to around 400rwkw. Only real issue with them is the transmission cooler, but there are a few aftermarket replacements.

ZF is what BMW and others use, not from BMW. ZF have been building bus transmissions for decades as well.

The Barra is the ford 2jz why we don't have them in the states I donno but iv always wanted to build one !!!

@@CraftsmanQuad19 Look down in Brazil. 1320video did a feature on some inline GM 6 around that size from some 1970s Brazil cars and they were doing low 7s on OEM block, OEM head, just everything braced and boosted to hell. 👍

Fuck the Barra. You can get more power from a junkyard LS, and the exhaust note is much sweeter. Straight 6's don't sound bad they don't anywhere near as mean as v8's. Australia can keep there precious Barra, we'll keep our Corvettes that are faster look better and sound better than anything built on that prison nation that drives on the wrong side

1. The engine was already discontinued.2. Its a Australian built engine and it wouldn't be right to just sell it in another car that shares no existing models or history with it being in a non ford car.3. It's only built for the Aus and NZ emissions and would have to throw more money just to sell it in the car in multiple countries.

@Raging Jesuit well I guess if u want me to make a 4 then ok. 4. The B58 is more responsive, weights almost 200lbs less than a 2jz,and has the same block material that is made in VR38 and Coyote block and can more than likely be sleeved.

@Ron F but they're just a family friendly car manufacturer. They aren't like Nissan,BMW,nor Porsche and can make a sportscar whenever they feel. Thr coupes they make now are barely selling as is (the RCF and LC)so why waste millions on another coupe when they know it's wasteful to waste money on making a new engine for one car,new chassis,and a new and expensive new car being brought into the market when they know its not going to sell well in the process. When it's car enthusiasts vs the general car market the car enthusiasts get trampled by the general car market because the manufacturers know they'll be wasting Billions on them to make a car that they praised for but won't back up the sales nor be willing the pay the price because it's expensive. Even if they have billions that's going to completely chamge if they started throwing it towards the factories,R&D,the engine,and just building the car itself that'll take a affect in that.

They are so easy to make power from. A few thousand dollars on parts and tuning and you have a 500 plus horsepower street monster that you can still drive around comfortably

I really wish you would get both sides time instead of just the one lane

The Barra six is twin cam, 24 valve, nothing 3V about it, think of it as Ford Australia's version of the RB26 or 2JZ motor. 😈 The Barra 220 V8 however is a 3V, same as a Lightning without the blower, fitted to the Fairlane but not the Falcon. 👍

@@OneSlowLT1 Nah the head design is similar. If you look at the Barra head and the Coyote head they look almost the same with the layout/angle of the valves apparently, but I'm no Ford expert. 🤷 The Barra is the final evolution of the old Thriftpower Six. 👍
