Australian Special Forces

The Special Operations Command oversees Army special forces, such as the Special Air Service Regiment, 1st Commando Regiment, and 2nd Commando Regiment.
Since December 2002, all Australian Army special forces units have been consolidated under the Special Operations Command (SOCOMD). Clearance divers operate under Navy command unless assigned to SOCOMD or joint task forces within the Joint Operations Command. Similarly, Air Combat Controllers fall under Air Force command unless deployed operationally with SOCOMD units or joint task forces.
No. 4 Squadron B Flight Combat Controller Team (CCT) of the Royal Australian Air Force provides critical air traffic control and forward air control for close air support in special operations.
The Special Operations Engineer Regiment (SOER), formerly known as the Incident Response Regiment, enhances SOCOMD with CBRNE response capabilities, combat engineering, mobility, survivability, and ordnance disposal, both domestically and during overseas operations.
The Special Operations Logistics Squadron (SOLS) supports SOCOMD with comprehensive logistical services both domestically and internationally.
The 171st and 173rd Aviation Squadrons of the Australian Army's 6th Aviation Regiment provide rotary wing airlift and air mobility domestically and overseas for the Special Operations Command, including support for Tactical Assault Groups..
