@@surelyyoujokemeinfailure7531 " It's as if the cameras have a much wider field of view than people's eyes do" Human eyes(if memory serves) have a horizontal FOV(field of view) of about 135 degrees, whereas most dashcams have a much wider FOV. But of course, the shit ones have a narrower FOV, which I don't recommend. "On the camera you can see a lot of these accidents before they happen." That's because we're watching these accidents in hindsight. I would assume some(if not all) of the drivers don't see everything that happens beforehand, depending on if the individual has good situational awareness or not.

Smart option for him is to pull over somewhere quiet once he's safely away, call the police to report it, and say he left the scene because he was afraid of being attacked by the resident. @gandalf501 not necessarily. A friend has shown me how his Model 3 reacted when he was 100% going to have an accident if he was in control. A car pulled out in front of him, his model 3 happened to be in autopilot mode. The 3 just slammed on the brakes, quickly steered around the car, then accelerated away like nothing happened. I watched the footage around 20 times because I was amazed with the current technology we have today.
