In Australia, competitive basketball starts from Under 8 age group… there are thousands of clubs which play games every week against each week.. that’s why they are so good in basketball and other sports

i dont think so autralia is just too good and baskeball is very big thing in aus compared to india. india came 5th in last u16 asia cup by beating korea,iran and qatar. there is hardly any team that can beat aus in asia so there score was preety predictable against india which is nowhere in basketball.

People here who are supporting India, I appreciate that as I am Indian as well. I was expecting a bit better from that team knowing that they had months to prepare and sufficient budget as well, there were also many drafts candidates which means those were the best player India had to offer for U16. However, It appears that they failed miserably, maybe because of rich parents bribing the draft selection? who knows.

Hockey,Football is quite popular, wrestling is popular, Badminton, Kabaddi, Chess, Volleyball, shooting etc. They are all popular. It's just that Cricket had a strong history of an underdog team winning the WC 83 and it was used politically (well marketed). Things are changing. Respect for players like Sunil Chetri is rising, we have our golden boy Neeraj Chopra and now we have more than 100 Asian game medals. Para athletes are performing tremendously. People are rooting for players from volleyball and basketball. Women's sports are getting well deserved recognition as well. Many changes have happened and many more to go. Itna loote jaane k baad bhi khade he hum, kuch aur saal bharosa kar lo. Desh sach me badal raha he.

india only lost in wc cricket because the field was found to be faulty and whoever plays the fielding first wins. The players also agreed, even the winning team.

I'm proud of the Indian basketball team as they gave it their best fighting all odds.

@@susb25 It is what it is. Don't think basketball is even suited for India, there's barely an increase in India's average height due to poor food choices. Meat consumption needs to be normalised in india whether pork or beef if nation needs to perform better.

We are living in a country where money matters.. Not talent hence proved..

I mean... basketball is a very physical game. Just look at the size differences of players between both teams. India may have the height, but they are all so scrawny with small frames.

Indian team is good at speed and physical strength but they are lacking in much bigger aspects like vision of captain, corporation of teammates, shooting, rebounding, foul cover ups and most important thing (according to me), POSITIONING, players are not aware of other player's presence I support u indian team but i expected better 😢

India should focus on other sports also . Cricket is not the only sport!!!! Yea i know some random people will come and reply that we have gold medal in javeling throw etc . But all i want to say is the lack of concern about other sports.

As an Indian I just feel frustrated seeing sensitive Indians in the comment section . I just don't understand why we Indians are so sensitive towards a negative comment coming out from a westerner ? 🤦

The first few minutes of the game..no screens, taking contested shots, bad pass and no field vision, hence no play making.. make plays that leads to basket. not just panic passes and shots.. Simple advice, the biggest guy on the team screens and the best shooter takes an easy no contested shots...this play will get you at least 20+ points or more if the SG/PG is decent at shooting

That's what happened when people from your country is obsessed with only one sports and they only love to watch others play rather than wanting to play themself. Don't know when India focuses on other sports than cricket.

Country where people can rarely afford 2 meals a day are playing basketball at a international level is a big thing... So please don't criticize Indians...

A major problem in selection for India is that they don't think on a wholistic level as to this guy is good defender, this guy is a good rebounder etc. All they see is the score sheet. The one who scores the most points is selected for the nationals team from each state per say. Which is totally wrong and hence the same reflects in the way these people are playing the game. No sets or formations have been played by them. All are excellent in Iso or getting to the basket but they are not trained neither are they good at playing as a team, setting screens, cutting to the basket or rolling the ball.

India needs to invest in better coaching, the defense of this team was an embarrassment. Everyone just collapses on the ball, there is no communication and no game plan. Despite having talented players the coaches neglect their jobs. Hardly any set plays were run from India during the game, the country needs better coaches who take initiative to improve their team

India team has weak defensive play when compared to Australia they are not even allowing the ball to pass the mid court line most of the time
