This is looks very similar to Maui 2023. Fast winds + uncontrollable fires that you cant outrun

What happened in Maui was NOT a wildfire. There’s a video about a forensic arborist!!! AND no water in the hydrant!! Cops blocking the road to get out !!!! No high tech siren !!!! No warnings whatsoever!!!!! Fema staying in 5 star resorts but only 700 her family ??? Bidens no comment. Geez do I need to continue? Making myself sick typing it !!!!

The fires in Maui, while deadly, are *nothing* like an Australian fire. The Kilmore fire traveled 40km in 6 hours on a narrow run, then the wind change hit and drove the entire 40km flank into a head fire. A million acres in a single day.

Great video. Living here in N. California we have a very similar situation. It's 107 here today and I have my GoBag ready to as I do every summer. I hope your upcoming summer is one with out many fires. So far this year we have been lucky, just over 290 acers (117 hectares)burned compared to over a million last year. But we still have 2 months or so of hot weather to go. BTW, turn down the music or turn up the narration. You can barely here the narration when there is music.

I'm here in S. California right now and not gonna lie, the wet winter mixed with what should be a really dry summer gets me nervous. Hearing a similar thing happened in Victoria right before Black Saturday is not helping that anxiety for the upcoming fire season.

The next day in New Zealand, i stood and watched as they sky turned red and black for an entire day. My heart sank. I remember gulping and throwing up. I knew all those poor bushcreatures would have suffered hell.

Historically, it seems there have been many worse fires in Australia. The 2009 fire may have killed the most people in aggregate, but not if you take population increases into account. And as far as acreage and number of homes lost, it was not close to the worst. 2009 ranks 20th in acres burned and 4th in homes lost. For example, 1939's fire burned 4.9M acres, destroyed 3700 homes and killed 71 people. However, the population was only 7M in 1939 vs. 25.4M in 2009. But 12M acres burned in 1851, 9.9M in1951-52, 99M in 1968-69, 110M in 1969-70, 290M in 1974-75, 8.6M in 1984-85, 94M in 2002, and 46M in 2019.

Seeing this must be absolutely terrifying. These poor people are going to have PTSD for the rest of their lives. The smell of fire must bring such fear. I hope everyone is/was able to get mental health treatment. We must do more to protect the environment. the planet will be ok it can rejuvenate itself but us humans can not.

Come on scientists / architects / experimenters / people need a place to escape a 1500 degree F fire for 2 hours and be able to breathe without smoke for at least that period ... maybe for up to 8 hours. Bunker homes that don't look like it.

If those that had time to leave would have left they would not have needed a safe place and would have survived. I don't understand the stay and defend attitude when yo see what is coming your way. Stuff is stuff you can get more, life is precious and only comes one.

What happened here is horrible, but there is *one* positive side to all of this. Just think of all the dead spiders.
