Sydney Motorsport park, yes was built for those different types of racing but really it was to stop street racing. Best in that controlled environment. Also yes pulsar sss n15 was an aus delivered car. The pulsar gti-r was the two door 4wd turbo car. Very fun

Glad to see you made it down here. The Japanese performance game in Australia, I think, was brewing in the late 80's but really started here when the Nissans came to Bathurst in 1991 and changed the game. By then the big domestic Ford and Holden builds were expensive and a bit played out but Japanese cars were cheap. I had a Datsun 1600 four door (Datsun 510) in the late 80's I got for $600. But out of Japan were all these used engines that were showing up in import lots as the regulations there required them to be replaced once they hit a certain number of Km's. Many, many engines came here for cheap like the FJ20 and could be dropped into our Nissan/Datsun 70's cars. Add the little Honda Civic into the mix with tuned engine and the industry just grew out of that. One of the most popular car magazines of the 80/90's was "Fast Fours and Rotaries". Good times.

I just looked it up. The fasted speed down Conrod Straight at Bathurst is in a Nissan GTS-T, 30+ year old car in 2022 with over a 1000Hp (de-tuned with a billet engine block!!!!) that hit 327km/h. This car lifts both it's front wheels off the ground for about 120m coming over the top of the mountain! It's nuts!

Hey, thanks for featuring my Nissan 300C @18:43. It is a Y30 Cedric, hence the box in the centre but was badged as a 300C for exports following on from the Datsun 260C and 280C. It is AU delivered, not imported and I think the V-30E SGL badging is a leftover from badging used in Japan for the Cedric. - V-30E (powered by VG30E 3L V6) - SGL (mid-level trim) I love my gold box...my grandparents bought one new and I remember loving the interior as a kid and being taken to school in the back seat. I stands out wherever it goes it's also my first car. My second car is a Chrysler 300C Wagon... Thanks for the awesome footage and coverage of the event :)

Australia has such a big JDM culture because we drive in the left side of the road, same as Japan. Japan is also probably the closest country that makes (decent) cars. I don't know whether most Australian Japanese car enthusiasts are Japanophiles in the same way people in North America are. Growing up I never really heard the phrase JDM, even though my dad was a mad Datsun guy. Japanese performance cars were just a part of the regular car palette, probably owing to various backdoor imports. For example, I had a 1987 Celica GTFour which was imported way back in the early 90s, and had been registered since then.

The Australians simply like the platform better. You kind of made it sound like American tuners are inept with the RB which is far from the truth. As for the drag racing in America not having any imports. Did you forget that the Supra was pretty much the only import holding It's own against the American muscle cars literally since 2000?

We have literally taken the RB to its stupendous heights and nowhere else comes close. You sound like a spoiled child trying to have a pissing contest instead of giving props where they’re due. You guys are literally pups to the Japanese car world compared to everywhere else - deal with it.
