Austin Rivers MIGHT have a point about NBA Players being in the NFL

Austin Rivers says NBA players could play in the NFL but NFL players could not play in the NBA does he have a point? Or is he disrepecting the NFL? Would it be Easier for a NBA Player to Make it in the NFL or Vice-Versa?

I’d like to see the NBA players against the NFL’s best press man cover corners, see if they can get off the line. They wouldn’t be able to. There’s so much skill and technique to this, not just athleticism. I think what he’s saying is athletically, yes, NBA cats can run and jump with NFL athletes, but you can’t down play the craft. Football is an explosive, athletic sport, but it’s also about precision and body control.

Stephon Diggs best release move is when he pretends he has a basketball and does a fake cross over. I am not saying every guard could beat press man, but some of them definitely could beat SOME nfl corners.

Some of the best recievers in the NFL cant beat press coverage from “Sauce” Gardner, Pat Surtain, jaire alexander etc. so i see your point but on average you cant tell me a prime lebron or westbrook couldnt get open against guys like emmanuel forbes jr. On the commanders😂

HELLLL NAH!!!!! its easier to go from NFL to NBA then NBA to NFL. There's NOBODY in the NBA that's playing 48 minutes a game homie and NFL players are wearing gear and constantly getting hit damn near at full speed. NBA players get contact, but nothing near NFL players AND NBA plays are on the count in tank tops and shorts. You're talking about NFL linemen, but usually guys in the NFl that played basketball are WR's, TE's, or DB's.

    1) josh hart for the knicks played 48 minutes like 5 times in PLAYOFF games it doesnt happen often but some players do play 40+ minutes 2) just because basketball isnt as much contact as football doesnt mean they couldnt handle getting tackled 3) it would be way easier for players to get “thicker skin” to take hits than for football players to learn the finesse of moving while dribbling a basketball with defense one is more a mentality the other is an actual skill

Zion big but he cannot stay healthy in the nba. I doubt he would make it in the nfl. I see alot those same players flaming out during training came.

I think there is a 0% chance that any GM in the league would cut someone like Williamson, even if they had never played football in their life. He would make the roster and get some snaps while the coach tries to figure out if he is the biggest tightend they have ever seen, or the most athletic left tackle.

@@reasonablegentleman Could he even stay healthy? His best bet would to be a lineman because those legs will get exposed to alot hits. He can barely take it in the nba. How is he suppose to stay healthy in the nfl?

@@stephonleaf I'm not making any claims about what his career would amount to, other than he would absolutely make the active roster for at least 4 years on any team in the NFL. Most of his injuries are foot and ankle related, he might actually have an easier time staying healthy playing oline than he does playing basketball, since he wouldn't be running and jumping nearly as much.

@@reasonablegentleman But he is trying to stop a grown man from getting to his qb. Athletic grown men like himself. Parsons, garrett they threw down at the all star game but I don't believe they make a roster off that alone. You are pretty much saying off how he looks he gets a spot not based off of what he does in training camp? The Dline of any team including the one he trains with wouldn't have a problem showing him how hard it would be for him to get a spot. It takes more than just showing up looking like you can play. He most likely has no oline iq on how to best block each defender or picking up a blitz. I don't see how he makes a roster. Especially on a legit contender.

@@stephonleafI am not saying he would make the roster because of how he looks, I am saying that he would make the roster because he has beyond elite left tackle measurables and the last spot on the roster is frequently used for a developmental player that isn't expected to contribute right away. Teams frequently carry 8 or 9 olinemen, and that 9th guy is usually bad, any GM would trade their 9th olineman for a 6'6 290lb man with a 45 inch vertical leap(the vertical leap is different from the standing vertical jump done at the combine) . He would be like a lottery ticket with much better odds, he could be Jordan Mailata, Stephen Neal, Jimmy Graham, Antonio gates, jermaine lewis, or on the other side of the coin he could be Brock Lesnar, or Jarryd Hayne.

NBA players are soft (think load management), they don't have the toughness to take a hit, in football part of your job is to take mans will. Aside from QB, cornerback is the second hardest position in the NFL. Zion won't be a good pass rusher, an Offensive Linemen would lock him up. Football players would only be able to rebound and be an enforcer, they would not be good scorers. Lebron 'the flopper' won't be able to take a hit from a defensive player. Draymond Green played college football, he had 5'9" DBs locking him up. NBA players are more skilled, NFL players are better athletes.

Load management isnt a great argument because football has 16 games basketball has a minimum of 82 so even with load management (which most players dont even do btw) they still play more than 4x the amount of games as football players not even including playoffs. So youre saying you dont think either athlete could play the others sport? I can definitely respect that
