Fun fact: The scene with the malfunctioning chair was improv. The guy controlling the chair was messing with Mike Myers, who stayed in character the whole time and it was so funny that they kept it in. Also, Rob Lowe's impression of Robert Wagner was developed several years before its appearance in the film. Rob Lowe dated one of Robert Wagner's daughters.

I don’t know if somebody is pointed this out, but the transitions are an homage to the comedy variety series Laugh-In. It's funny that you mentioned wanting an evil laugh, Amber. Years ago (shortly after this movie came out) my two young nephews came to stay the summer with me. The first thing I did was tell them that one of the most important things a person can have in life, is a good evil laugh Then I taught them one and let them watch this movie (many times as it turns out). Months later after they went back home (I live in OKC and they lived in Kansas) I got a phone call from their teacher, who gave me grief for teaching them that. She said they wont stop doing the evil laugh when ever she asked them a question. Made me proud of the boys!

Whenever my sister in law told her girls to do chores or something they didn't want to do and complained about, she'd tell them they'd have to because she's eeeevil so they have no choice and give them her best evil laugh (which is a great one), and they'd giggle and get on with what they'd have to do. Evil laughs help. :)

Austin Powers isn't just a spoof of James Bond, it's a spoof of the entire spy craze that Bond started. Austin Powers imitated the suggestive names from the Bond series, and Dr Evil is a great caricature of Bond's most iconic villain, Blofeld, but a lot of the sillier stuff was inspired by the even sillier imitators. One of these imitators is the movie Austin was watching in the hotel room, In Like Flint.

I had a friend back in the day. The first time I met him he came around the corner dressed in a very Mod style and hairdo! And very tall for his age...somewhat giant like, well proportioned but big. It was like a weird vision. He walked up to me and held out his hand and introduced himself as new to the neighborhood. We became life long friends and had some wild experiences as you can imagine for the era. He and his sister also hipped me up to some great music like Savoy Brown...Hendrix. It was all very groovy. He was slightly ahead of his time because his sister dressed him who was slightly older. LOL Dig it!

Mike Myers was a freight train of comedy success. Mike was on the popular show Saturday Night Live during the early 90s which was the golden Era of the show. Just as other popular SNL stars like Bill Murry, Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, and Dan Akroyd had done before he ventured into the realm of Feature films with low budge(low risk) films like "Wayne's World" and "So I Married an Axe Murderer". Each new film seemed to be more successful than the last one and it appeared Mike could do no wrong. It was during these fleeting years when he produced some of the best and funniest films ever. The Austin Powers franchise is something I will always cherish. The last one is the best one. Better watch that one soon. Your reaction was pure joy. Loved it.

3:40 - Mike Myers wanted actress Elizabeth Hurley to return as a female lead but by the time this sequel was greenlit, Hurley was already busy with other film projects and could not commit. So she agreed to reprise her role as a cameo and turning her into a fembot maintained the plot continuity. But it also worked out well because this franchise is a parody of James Bond, which has a different female lead with every movie.

I had my first Ecstasy tablet when me and 3 friends were going to watch this on opening Friday night. We got back to our local pub and we were telling everyone how funny it was and saying some of the jokes. On the Saturday we were having a movie night at another friends house who had just completed building his home cinema. It had a few rows of huge bean bag seats a large projection screen and a fully working bar. He had a pirate copy of the movie and us 4 watched it again with about 10 other people. It must have been some great XTC because it was completely different to the movie we saw. Hahahaha Well, not completely different. It was exactly the same but every little thing was different. All the funny jokes and the quotes we were making the previous night were not in the movie everything was just ever so slightly different. The jokes and quotes were the same but they were all worded differently to what we remembered. hahaha Good times.

You've got to watch Wayne's World next. Mike Myers at his best. 👌 P.s Mini Me was also in the 1st Harry Potter (he played griphook who opened the vault for Hargrid).

I'll never forget, this came out summer 99 when I was 9 & I convinced my grandad to take me to see it at the movies, we both laughed so hard, the whole theater roared with laughter and I'll never forget as soon as we got in the car my grandfather calmly & coldly said "....I was about to snatch you up & leave when that man drank...that....you're lucky it was funny cause if it wasn't that'd be the last movie I see that I let you pick". Today me in my 30s prefer the 1st one the most as far as a more structured & better overall "movie" with lots of different tones & themes & a bit more clever, but hands down I see this as being the funniest, and that opinion is kind of bias'd because of experiencing that roar of laughter in the theater. Yea Amber got it perfect when she said a group of teenagers opposed to just men, because just like how we were all quoting the 1st movie word for word when it was new, this one took it even further EVERYONE adult & kid was quoting it. I enjoy the 3rd one, was a fun time in the theater too, but it was just a little-very "trying too hard". There's consistent talk of a potential 4th but if they do I hope it's a bit more in line tone wise with the 1st & maybe a touch of the crassness of this one. Oh & there's 2 credit scenes in this one you guys missed (I'll mention that again in the goldie chat, maybe you can tack it onto Goldmember reaction, but if you don't it's nothing serious or that adds to either movie, just 2 funny scenes).

It's so cute that Amber "just can't...he needs to stop." 😆 FYI, the woman in black and white that Austin fights at the club is Miranda Richardson - aka Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter...she's also known for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in the second Black Adder series (with Rowan Atkinson) and also had a major role in The Crying Game. I hope you'll check out these other works. 🤓

If you want see another great character that Mike Myers created check out the movie Wayne's World. He plays a guy who has a small cable show and him and his friend Garth talk about music. It has a killer soundtrack of songs you've heard most of them so no spoils.

Doctor Evil's son is played by Seth Green, the voice of Chris Griffin on Family Guy and the Executive Producer of Robot Chicken. He had a lot of supporting roles in comedy films of the 80s and still turns up in movies. He landed the role on Family guy because he's hilarious and was the only actor who didn't sound like Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High in the audition.

I watched this movie so much as a kid (I definitely shouldn’t have). It was the only Austin Powers movie I saw for years. My family used to quote this movie so much, especially Fat Bastard. My dad and I still quote the “Get in my belly” moment. I definitely had a huge crush on Heather Graham in this movie and didn’t realize it at the time.

4:57 Dr. Evil is basically a spoof of Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL and the James Bond villain Blofeld Alotta Fagina, in the first movie, parodied either the Bond girl character of Pussy Galore in "Goldfinger" or Plenty O'Toole in another Bond movie Plus, Rabdom Task in the first Austin Powers movie parodied another Bond villain in Goldfinger named Odd Job, who would throw his hat at his victims instead of a shoe

Goldmember has Beyonce in it. Edit: Michael York is one of my favorite actors. He was fantastic as D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers (1973) with Raquel Welch, Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain, Frank Finlay and the incredible Christopher Lee (Count Dooku from Star Wars and Saruman from LoTR and The Hobbit).

Hi Jay & Amber!😊 You guys just jumped at the front of the line with this reaction. I'm going to have to go get some snacks and a soda for this one!🥤🍿 There was a short end credit scene, but it is no big deal.😉 Looking forward to you guys doing the third film in the series with more mini-me and a fun meta feeling to it! 🥇 Oh yeah, Austin remarks to "In Like Flint" (1967) being on TV. This was another series of films that were made due to the popularity of James Bond. The first film in the series is "Our man Flint" (1966) and stars James Coburn, a tough Sean Connery type spy. Anyway, these films also influenced the Austin Power films as well. The two films are rather scarce, and one is out of print. Great reactions to your second Austin Powers film, Kids!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

Something to consider, the movie "Amélie" is an amazing masterpiece of cinematic art, and although it is in French with subtitles, if you could make it work, a reaction video would be a great addition to your repertoire! I look forward to watching more!
