Austin Gipsy G4M10 crank start and drive
In this video I do a walk around of my Austin Gipsy, describing some of its features and specs. Along with a demonstration of how to start the engine with the crank and test drive.

My father brought one home from a mine site near Bendemmer (Tamworth NSW) when I was about 16. I was enthusiastic but no idea & no money of what would lay ahead to restore it. Sat in our yard in Sydney for 10 years until some bloke from out near Mudgee (central west NSW) took it away.
I love these and I’m insanely jealous.
My first car was a Austin Gipsy 1963 it stayed in the family for 13 years and never broke down, it was not a flexitor car because in Iceland where I live the flexitor cars were not liked leaf springs were easier and I thought that the flexitor Gipsy´s were not manufactured after 1962 but I seem to be wrong there. In the end I swapped the Gipsy for 220 crates of green beens that my father sold and I bought myself a ´67 Mustang. Still I think of my Gipsy and wold like to have it back. This was about 1970.
That is a very very nice Gipsy, used to see quite a lot of these on the roads here in England but now a very rare sight.
👍😊 Thank you for the drive Glenn.
So excited to see this car here!
in the 1970s i worked in a leyland dealership in north east england we had 2 gipsys ex royal navy i thought they were better than land rovers good solid and reliable motor
holy smokes, that thing is cute and a proper 4x4!
I have the front clip of this , has the original lights with the Austin emblem, has the working horn a couple of old relays ,I have the speedometer with the clock in it that still keeps time, this rig is sweet 👍🏻🍻🇨🇦
Even still has a halon fire extinguisher.
Nice car Glen. I have a very similar 1965 Gipsy, and Yes, I too have a partial Aluminium roof insert on my soft top, covering the rear compartment only, but not the front seats - no idea why?!
Very nice!
