He is a very cute youthful man and being connected now to wonderful elvis is quite something for him. Brad Pitt was very cute and has stayed that way into his 50 s. But he never had to immerse himself into a living icon. I hope Austin can shake off elvis as time goes on. There's no way any other role will be as meaningful as this one is to him.

Love that he mentioned how ppl say he doesn’t look like Elvis. I know this interview is a few weeks old but I think it’s safe to say, anyone who says he was the wrong casting has yet to see the film. I think nearly everyone who has seen the film now can agree that Austin captured Elvis sooo damn well. He was absolutely amazing.

Wow it was good to hear Austin bring up the people that say he doesn't look enough like Elvis. I belong to a lot of Elvis groups on Facebook and there are still people complaining about that. My comment I always put when someone says, "No, he doesn't look like Elvis, they should have gotten an impersonator." My response is that: I think Austin's heart, soul, character, humbleness, talent, respect, manners, and spirit look a lot like Elvis, and that I'm grateful we have someone who dedicated everything he had and every hour of each day for over 2 years to give Elvis his due, and to honor him through his performance, and all "you" can think is that "they should have gotten an impersonator," which says that physical appearance is absolutely the only reason you are an Elvis fan, when Elvis was so much more than just his physical appearance.

There is a scene where it switches back and forth a couple times between Elvis and Austin singing, when Priscilla saw this she ask the director if it was Austin or Elvis singing and he said both , so in my opinion he looked exactly like him later on in the film the only way I could tell the apart was the shape of Austin’s eyes . It is true Austin didn’t look exactly like Elvis, but in the midst of watching the movie, I actually didn’t notice! He moved, emoted, and sounded just like Elvis and I felt like I was watching Elvis in real life. It’s only now watching snippets over and over that I notice that he didn’t look quite like Elvis . So, Austin, he did an awesome job. He accomplished what he wanted to do with the role, “capture Elvis’ humanity”. All I know is, emotionally, I was watching Elvis on the big screen. Not Austin.

I also think the whole “he doesn’t look like Elvis” thing is highly variable and depends a LOT on your age and how much you cared about Elvis before this movie. As a millennial, I thought he looked pretty similar to Elvis, but I’m sure that’s bc I didn’t grow up with Elvis as a living person/celebrity. I mean, no one is going to look exactly like another person, but he was certainly close enough.

Kurt Russell looks nothjng like elvis and Kurt is not a tall man like elvis and Austin are. Kurt had his own personality to overcome and become elvis and he couldn't do it. I think when it comes to Elvis, there is always the "How Dare You Factor". Meaning, anybody who even comes near to portraying him is accused of wanting to be him. Elvis has a Jesus-like status, especially, in the Elvis fan community, with a sign "DON`T TOUCH OR ELSE!". That`s probably the reason why there are almost no people out there whose mothers dared christen them "Jesus" or "Elvis". That`s why people`s expectations are unrealistically high and utopian. The family knew Elvis as a person, and they know that nobody can BE the same person, but they also know a good portrayal of him when they see it. I am a lifelong Elvis fan and I can say: "Yes, Austin, You are enough and so much more!". You can`t please everyone and that`s because most people are too shallow to understand the complexity of a project like this role and the movie in general.
