I agree with ya- they almost have to be thick & bulky- but the effect it gives is STUNNING!! U don’t have to burnish a 2nd coat of unicorn pigment after building the gel over the film- I just leave it like it is,& it’s gorgeous! U did a fantastic job!

Yay! You got that out fast! I thought the aurora nails I was seeing on IG looked thick, but I thought maybe I was wrong or that you'd know the secret lol. I do like the strips better, and as I already struggle with shaping and getting my nails thin enough already, that first technique looks like a no-go for me. They look pretty from the top though! Can't wait to see the other nail that you sneak peeked. I think I might know what you're doing in that one but I'll wait until you get it uploaded to see. Thanks for doing this! 🥰🥰🥰

I'm so glad that you showed us the shards technique because I have a box of angel paper that I bought, thinking it was the oil slick and/or aurora looking transfer foil, and I have had absolutely ZERO idea what to do with it because I'm damn sure NOT doing the other "trend". I love the way that the angel paper and pigment look, but no way in hell was I making a set of press ons that are SO thick that they look like damn boulders. 😂 Your whispery commentary had me ROLLINGGGGG. Omg. 😂

OK, I just found your channel looking for a way to do these. I’ve realized rather quickly that this is a technique that I already do with my resin but I use opal cellophane that is intended for basket wrapping. If I use the same strategy that I do with that I would lay down a small layer of resin, a very thin layer of black acrylic/nail polish and then top that with crinkled cellophane and clear resin. I’m off to attempt it lol. Also, I love your channel. I’m looking forward to binging your videos.

Girl you NEED to have a short clip that shows what your nail says in your videos - I always try to read it and can't see it and it STRESSES me! I seen someone take that angel paper and put it on the tip with acrylic like kinda crumpled it up and out it on the smile line and than covered it with clear acrylic. I also have a question when you swatch you foils do you put down base and than your foil gel than foil than top coat? Of course curing in-between

It would definitely be easier with acrylic! I've filmed another set where I crinkle it, it makes it shimmer so much more! When I Swatch foils I just go straight in with the foil gel, as it's a pop it doesn't need base.

I am so happy I found your channel and now I know I’m not crazy, well I don’t know how true that is but you made me feel better. I have been a nail tech for almost 20 years and this stupid thick ass trend had me in tears at 1am the other night trying to come up with a way to make this “art” no so f-ugly. I have never sworn so much or thrown so many nails around my house. I gave up, but I might, might head back into my nail room and try again because I think I found a cheat around it. If I do I will let you know. You are a delight!!

I did do one like that, but it didn't glow like the angel paper, so saved myself some editing and left it out 🤣🤣

Hi Jo the way I did it was get some form backing paper cut your strips of Aurora paper do a strip of top coat on backing paper put ontop of it the Aurora paper cure then peel it of and put on to nail then builder on a bottle over top lol hope this.helps love your energy an your vids stay safe xoxo

Hi Joe.... The nails using strips, agree turned out the best.. they looked amazing... Ive used this method, but I glued my strips/shards to the nail, Ive also just discovered that using cured foil gel realy helps things stick to the nail, not just foil, Ive used it to apply decals.. I did myself some nails last wk using angel paper, but I scrunched it up first, applied over glue then encapsulated with acrylic, but you could use Gel... Love your chanel and you have a great sense of humor.. you also put a load of work into your vids, not just the nail stuff, but all the little extra's, Ive attempted to make youtube vids and gave it up as its so time consuming, so a big Thankyou Joe for all your effort.. xx

Thank you! 🥰 I've not tried it with glue, as I'm not a big fan of nail glue in general (apart from applying tips and fixing stuff around the house 🤣🤣) I hear lots of people use foil gel to stick things with. I tend to prefer sitting things on a wet base but good for decals, like you say. The scrunched up thing was on my sneak peek nail at the end! I figured all the facets would glow lots, so that will be in an upcoming video; it looks amazing!

Oh geeeezzzz the clip of your own sparkly Aurora nail is BEAUTIFUL! I would absolutely love a tutorial of exactly how you did that technique! Hehe! Thank you! 🥰 It's an encapsulated glitter ombré, with shards of angel paper. I'll see if I can do a video for it soon; I'm sure there'll be lots of sparkly & bright designs to come now it's spring! But I will add this to my to do list. I think both the glitters I used have been discontinued, but I'll try and do it with ones that are available now! Let me know if you want a written step by step and I'll reply with it!

I did these... used aurora striping tape, better than the angel paper. Still thick, but have looked great. Definitely a lot of work and lots of layers!

Oh yes, I used the striping tape version in an older video, works great!

I will try cutting into little shards and apply. It will cover the nail and still give the same effect. As I’m typing you made the statement on shards.😆👍

I'm so glad you did this! I've seen these videos too & I Snr figure out what exactly they were doing & it looked like it would be ridiculously thick. So, now I feel validated! Ha ha ha. These are pretty on camera but I would not want to wear them. Also, I FREAKING LOVE YOU! Keep it up! 😉😁💜😂I'm so silly!

You are right, they are thickkk! 🤣 Got a bunch of people telling me a 'better' way to try, clearly not realising that I am showing this way because this is the current trend 🙄 and I repeatedly said how nasty it is! That's why I showed a nicer way, because it's ugly! It might be the 5am Baileys talking, but they're complete misunderstanding is annoying me 🤣🤣 I'm glad this video validated your thoughts 😂, and that you didn't think I was doing it because I thought the trend was nice! 🤣🤣 Grrr, people - am I right?! 😂

Happy to be here.... I feel like if you and I were sitting together trying nail designs this is exactly how our convo would go and I love that. 😆💖🤜 Its awesome to see and hear a youtuber trying new designs with us and stating your honest thought and opinions while doing them....instead of perfecting it behind the scenes and then recording it like it should be so simple and was super easy to perfect.
