I agree, Runaway is her breakthrough song. Katy Perry promoted her on social media after have heard it. Billie Eilish said that after she heard and saw the video of Runaway she realised that her own type of music may have a future and it sparked Billies career. "Nidarosdomen" means "The cathedral of Nidaros". Nidaros is the old name for Trondheim, Norway. This is the principal cathedral of Norway and once it was a target for pilgrims, like Santiago de Compostella in Spain.

Aurora has written music form she was 6 years old and the words came when she was 9 and she started to write lyrics, but she did it all in secret and her family didn’t know she sang until she was 14 years old. I agree with the others in the comment section and suggest you react to her Runaway. and I hope you choose her live performance at the Nobel peace prize in 2015. You get the see her loose herself in the song, it really looks like she is doing an interpretive dance while she is singing while the mic is on the mic stand the whole time. She wrote Runaway in one hour when she was 11 years old. She has no theater background; she could not even sing in front of her own parents and in the end went into a studio for 4 hours in 2012 and recorded her song Puppet for them because they so desperately wanted to hear her sing. She explained in an interview "Suddenly, three weeks after ["Puppet"] was leaked on KZread by a classmate I had management. And I didn't even want to meet my management. I didn't have any use to become an artist, I didn't see the point of it. Then my mother told me that she felt this wonderful feeling between sadness and happiness, at the same time. She told me that if I could make her feel that way, maybe I could make people feel that way. And it would be selfish in one way to hide music from the world if it could be of any use. That kind of made me take the first step into the music industry.” She hated performing the first two years, she was so scared she was sick every time before going on stage and literally thought she might die. She has said she kept her eyes closed the whole first year, but om clips form 2014 they are open, she just dos not see the audience as her sight is turned inwards. She was not aware se dd the hand movements until her band started commenting on it and she didn’t believe them, so they taped her and she was shocked, thinking it looked like she was possessed. She has said she only has her tiny moth to sing the song but it is not enough to convey all the emotions so she has to use her whole body. She feels the music in her body as energy and it has to be released somehow, now she is conferrable on stage now and dances and moves around a lot. She was not taught how to sing, she was not taught how to write music and lyrics, she was not taught how to play the piano, she was not to taught how to perform, but she did take dance classes for 10 years growing up and in addiction to the piano she now plays drums, percussion and the harp.

If you watch more of Aurora when she first began singing live, she is less aware of the audience than she is actually feeling or even becoming the music. She has been quoted to say she didn't even know she was moving when she sang. She became very self-conscious when she first watched a video of herself performing. But after she realised it is just a part of her and stopped trying to change it, she blossomed to the performer she is today. She is not theatric, she is just herself. And it's magical. She is not performing, she feels all the music she writes herself and is simply letting it flow out of her.

Aurora says that they did not have a radio in the house when she grew up. So she did not have many musical influences. She was mainly influenced by her parents' records. In particular: Leonard Cohen, Enya, and Bob Dylan. So Enya had a great influence on her. I guess especially on her voice since she is the female among those.

Great performance, great song, great venue about a very importan topic. Great choice for a reaction. Horrible choice for a first reaction. I don't understand why fans of Aurora keep suggestion songs like this to people unfamiliar with her. Aurora is musically and lyrically perhaps the most complex artist in mainstream-adjacent music today and this song/performance is on the deepest end of her portfolio. With all respect to your abilities, of course getting to the lyrics is almost impossible when you get something like this in your face. If you intend to only listen to only one song of her, then I suppose this song might be as good as anything. Otherwise I suggest you take Auroras suggestion (1) of starting with her first single, Runaway: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpN8zrKbn6-4fJs.html Hopefully some fans will be more helpful in making appropitate suggestions as your appreciation (naturally) increase. You're not far off in your assesments, considering your challenge. Aurora used to perform in large parts with her eyes closed with uncontrolled hand-movements. She is definately dramatic, but also an extreme introvert and quite weird (self-described). "I never wanted to be an artist. I wanted to be something else, like a superhero or a bird..." quote Aurora (2). She does have really important things to say. Even if you didn't like the music, it's worth to listen to her. sources: (1) kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJ9qtNaygrjHppM.html (2) kzread.info/dash/bejne/laidq8unfJiYmKQ.html I'm sure you will get more information on how she got into music/writing and performing. It's interesting. PS! If anyone gets offended and/or want to argue my point about choice of introduction, please don't. I'm not interested. Go argue with Aurora or someone else, like a superhero or a bird or something.

I couldn't help myself... Personally I like her accoustic intimate live(studio) performances like Running with the wolves: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6efpNSYaZnKgMY.html Especially those with Odd Martin Skålnes, the best supporting aritst of all time, and then some. She remakes her songs often, sometimes depending on context. There are big diffences between the versions, still unmistakably her. Her studio-albums are typically more electronic. Here are some suggestions that may be more interesting to a rock musician. I do suggest you do at least 1 or 2 of her other songs before any of these, but I'm not gonna fault you if you cannot help yourself either: Originals: Conqueror (Live From The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon): kzread.info/dash/bejne/e6uC0bp_l8qenNI.html (perhaps her most up-beat song) The Seed (Live at Lollapalooza Brazil 2018): kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGyBzJOxqr3bqps.html (big-scene concert for maximum power). Animal Live Paris 2018 kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4p6xo-ip7ywobA.html (Club-scene, phone-quality recording and gritty. Still best version imo - also contains "the seed", but big-scene is better for that song) Covers (very slow): David Bowie - Live on Mars: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nX5km5eMYLDTnqQ.html Massive Attack - Teardrop: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eYSIu5ilj7O-Zc4.html Collaboration: Wardruna - Helvegen (also kinda slow, but powerful) Wardruna is bluntly put a "Viking"-style band lead by Einar Selvik former drummer in the black metal band Gorgoroth. This performance is mostly Wardruna, which is a good subject for reaction by themselves: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4t5m659edinYLA.html She mentions artists like Leonard Cohen and Enya as her biggest influences, sometimes classical music and others, but she is very into heavy metal and has stated she'ld like to collaborate with Gojira. She comes from Norway, same as Angelina Jordan btw. Just wanted to mention. One of my favorite songs by her, is her cover of life on mars, by David Bowie. Hope maybe you would react to it, if you decied to react to more from her. In this performance she was 18 years old. Lol, it's fun to watch your reaction to someone I've been watching for years. She is otherworldly to us in the west. This is not my fav version of this piece. You should check out her studio version with her guitarist/harmony singer. Aurora is not a fan of huge shows, so you can tell she is acting not so much like her true self. She is an emotional singer and it's funny because you see her as "theatrical", but Aurora is probably the most authentic singer. She doesn't care how she looks when singing. She has fun. It is her nature. She feels everything. She is Nordic, so yes, I'm sure to you she seems elflike. I wouldn't disagree, but that also is more about where she comes from than her love of Tolkien ;) As an artist a kin to her it's a breath of fresh air to see her, but to the cookie cutter world she looks out of place. If she hasn't been this way since birth, then I could see calling her theatrical. Her songs are mostly sad and she'll tell you that because she is telling you her heart and what this world has done to it. She is quite sad in her vlogs. She is special to say the least. A prodigy since 6. She's very very talented, and she's a very old soul. Young in age only. Her mind is hundreds and I'm not being funny. My son is similar. They are gifts for sure, but fragile. Watch her vlog stuff man. She's kinda like a little angel.

I adore her lyrics and music. I've been a musician since 2 years old, so close to 40 years and I can honestly say that she's one of the best I've seen or heard. A great voice to the Zinnial Gen. @@sarahfwiend1146 I hear your fear. I think doing what she loves and her strong determination to make a positive difference to people, can keep her strong enough to withstand. She actually reminds me a lot of Eartha Kitt. Allthough their music, personalities and life-experiences are so different. It seems they don't learn the way most people do. It's more like they absorb their skills, wisdom and knowledge from the earth and their surroundings. At the same time they have such a strong urge to translate and communicate to us (again in very different ways). Eartha is also a brilliant example of how much abuse, maletreatment and evil even a sensitive human can survive. Allthough I wish it was not so...

She is 23 years old and actually has said in an interview that she does not consider singing as her Dream job, she espresses that is kind of a draining energy act to do, she has said that is like a puppet of something bigger and is not in control of it entirely, so I think we have here an old mistic soul una young body, very misterious. Also, her songs touch very inner issues of being human like dead or beauty on human souls. she is like religion in music.

I’ve checked out every video, etc. so I am here to answer some of your questions if you care to read a bit lengthy post. You asked about her age. Here is some biographical info- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_(singer) If you watch her videos from several years ago and then some more recent ones, you will see a strong degree of development and growth of her artistry. My recent favorite is a two part series produced by NRK (Norwegian public television). The first video is a day in the life type documentary wherein Aurora submits herself to a day of mystery and surprise on a road trip organized by producer Christine Danke. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmdhp8SsfZS3oKw.html The second part is an open air concert that culminates as the end of the day of mystery and surprise road trip. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iHmNqsGplcnVmbQ.html This concert is her most inspired performance in my opinion.
