Probably because as this person said, she doesn't want to be sexualised. And she is more than capable to pronounce the words. Please dont be rude about this cover. I think it's beautiful. I say this as a female, I dont give a shit about women being sexual. It's all individual preference. If you wanna be sexy be sexy. Own it. Some people just dont like the song. And some people are just uncomfortable with sex in music in general. It's nothing against female sexuality specifically. And I'm sick and tired of constantly seeing that complaint every time anyone criticizes a female singer for any reason. Edit: I will however concede the point that yes, often when women are complimented of praised another woman is pulled down or compared. And I dont see why people cant just say "hey you did an incredible job on this song its great!"without having to say "you're us better than ariana I hate her music

arianas ver makes me think of sex and domination, the comfort in sexuality and being proud, knowing who you are, and what you want. meanwhile, auroras ver feels peaceful, vulnerable yet stable, the strength in emotions. like youve been heartbroken, yet you still find the strength to move on and pull forward because you can. both are amazing in what they did in their versions. dont flame either of them because they both sang it in their own distinct styles. just appreciate.

Had sex and lust ever not been important? Pretty sure none of us would be here without it. Yes there is a sexual nature to this song but it is literally about a woman taking ownership and understanding the power in her sexuality. What you have to understand is women are taught to ashamed of their bodies and sexuality whereas men are not. It's a sick double standard that means we don't understand our own bodies medically or how to enjoy it. The church has used purity culture and marriage as a means of controlling the masses for centuries. The truth is is if you can act as a gate keeper to a woman's body you have power to control mens behaviour because the drive to be loved is so strong. "If you do not act in accordance with our rules you can't be married or you will be shunned by the rest of our God fearing society". Same with a daughters sexuality belonging to her father. A woman can be used like cattle to be bargained away for familial alliances , goods, land or financial gain. A woman who chooses her sexual partner without anyone elses permission is in control of her own body. Wouldn't you rather be chosen freely without any expectations, just to be wanted unconditionally, based pure connection? Admittedly, I'm not convinced that the American music industry is any better than the church for exploiting female sexuality, but the point is still there.

I love that AURORA doesn't do simple covers where she copies the music, but instead makes it her own. Some critique her for it, but I love it.
