Have had the pleasure to see Frank Wakefield several times over the years. This is the best version I have heard. That fiddle player is a delight. Full of the joy of the joy that Frank intended.

Excellent work by everyone on this great picking tune! They are great players....especially Sharon Gilchrist ( a wonderful mandolin player too) who has a nice pulse and tasty variations in her bass lines.

Showing off all the capos, you mean? Not to take away from the stellar skill on display, in fact if anything that's precisely the thing. At that skill level B flat major is one of the easier keys even without a capo. Only a complete beginner will be discouraged by a mere two flats in the signature. (And on the violin B flat major is one of the first four or five scales every student learns. The lowest string is a G, so that is literally the easiest key to play a full two octaves in without leaving first position. And B flat major is just G minor. Again, Ms Haas is amazing to put it mildly, but she could probably improvise in this key as a toddler in her sleep.)

Don't get me wrong. This is a great tune. Can we talk about the name though? Why did he have to name it? New camptown races?.... There's the Bob Wills School of naming things where he would just stick new in front of something and add words to it, but the melody would stay the same. I just really like camptown races... This has nothing to do with that song lol
