august underground movies truly disturbed me. nice to see it being recognised tho, & it works nicely with the whole brutality of how ethel dies.

I just realized.... Ethel Cain's music is like the trailer to a new A24 film. 10 seconds in....and you already know this is gonna be goooood. >_

The vocalization in this track is hitting me extremely hard holy hell (pun intended- always)

I saw the title and immediately knew the reference. Naming a song after that movie implies the meaning very strongly. Horrific.

This album has eyes and they're looking at me...

I truly hope Hayden didn't have to watch August Underground or any of that trilogy more than once. They broke me. And I have a high tolerance for films like that but seriously they make the Saw movies look like Sesame Street, they make Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer look like Mr. Rogers.

@@jamesbrannon5099 yes they actually do, unless you are someone who is super super desensitized to the depiction of extremely graphic on-screen violence and gore and insanely transgressive acts. If you disagree it's because you live in a niche bubble of this type of cinema. The general public are obviously gonna feel differently than someone who is a conoisseur of this stuff.

Before I listened to all of Preacher's Daughter, I thought August Underground was the end of the whole album. It would have been unbearably bleak, maybe too bleak even for Ethel.
