One of my favorite plays by one of my favorite writers directed by one of my favorite film directors.

It's ironic that in our world, riven by war, negativity and corruption, plays such as this one fail to support a sense of despair. It's all just too much of a bad thing! And when it comes down to it, unless you are as unbalanced as Strindberg, life with all its deficiencies, is still a blessing.

Strindberg, like Chekhov, makes a lot more sense when performed on a stage than read on a page. (I didn’t intend for that to rhyme.)

Guess the Shining was copied from here. bergmann uses the same Bartok music Kubirck later used. He must have seen this. Strindberg is great.

Strindberg deserved much better than this !! The sort of self indulgent drivel he would have despised in his lifetime. He would have despised Bergman I suspect .
