This band has saved my life so many times. My mother passed away last year on July 9th 2020. Two days ago my grandmother who helped raise me died a week after her 92nd birthday and my sisters kept me from being able to say goodbye. She helped me navigate the bereavement of my mom's passing. This song has so much more deeper meaning now. This was also the first CD I bought with my own, earned money. I'll cherish it forever. I even got my mom to come to 3 august burns red shows. She's the whole reason I am who I am and I miss her dearly. It makes me feel somewhat better typing this into the comment sections void, so that maybe someone else suffering and hurting reads this and know your not alone. The suffering may be intense but it won't be forever.

The pressure is endless The tension is pounding Life change after life change It's too much for me to take While mourning the loss I am forced to celebrate Celebrate new life, celebrate new life When is it too much? When is it enough? Burrow deep down inside Somewhere, anywhere, a place to hide I'm collapsed, about to burn This will end me, set me ablaze I'm collapsed, about to burn I am about to explode I can't take much more of this Where is my way out? Waiting for this page to turn I can't even bear the silence Where is the ringing in my ears to sing me to sleep? Where are those who feel what I feel? Why can't I see the lights shining down on me? Home will always be where my heart lives But this is, this is my way out This is our home away from home Pouring our hearts across the stage With every word, we sing together Screaming our anthem with one another The open road is what I need to breathe freely Free me The open road is what I need to breathe freely Free me Free me Free me Free me Free me

Fighting to get my license back for the past 4 years after a bad car accident " the open road is what I Need, to breathe freely" hits me every time. I 318ish on I repeat over and over again its so good! Guitar work in the whole song is uplifting and simply inspiring to me. I get so much hope and comfort out of this song its rediculous. I first listened to this album when it came out and I was actually in Germany! I remember listening to it over and over on the trains and falling in love with it. Then, in 2018 my dad passed away and I remember binging beauty in tragedy. Still love it to this day. Since they announced their 10 year anniversary tour I decided to listen to it again and it still holds up, but this song really struck me this time as I've been through a LOT these past 5 years, like a lot of people. And I am just now getting to a place of healing, of peace, and love, and it feels so amazing. I love the "the open road is what I need to breathe freely, free me" and the chorus.. man. So beautiful. This resonates with me so much because I love traveling and driving and open road... thank you so much ABR and I am so excited to see you in November! I truly hope they play this song and I get to scream that last part out with the crowd and ABR. I also love how everyone else has been positively effected by ABR, such an amazing band and one of the best and one of my favorites. :)

That's what I used to think too, but then I listened to the album a couple more times. The First Step is brutal and in my opinion the lyrics are perfect for an album ender.

Who could possibly hate this song, its epic .. I don't think ABR has a fiber in their bone to make a bad song.

The dumbest thing someone could possibly ever say is "August Burns Red sounds like every other metalcore band and all their albums sound the same" ... I've heard it, and my response every time is I'd recommend a hearing aid.
