Makes me realize that I had pretty much every note right when playing this, but 100% the wrong positions for damn near every part. I learned by ear and internet tabs and have come to realize how even if you play the right note, it just sounds *slightly* off. Going to have to go back and relearn this now!

Hey ABR guys! First off, thank you for your great work. I love your music, be it the metal songs or the incredibly orgasmic reprise versions you do. BUT: I’ve noticed something really odd about your music when putting “Paramount” into Logic Pro. I wanted to learn that song on guitar by listening. I knew that you are fond of changing the tempo here and there, so I put the mp3 into Logic Pro to look at the BPM rate and mark the spots where it changes up or down by adjusting the tempo timeline, which in turn would change my project BPM, which then in turn would give me an exact click track of the whole song. The result was astonishing: The BPM goes from 160 to 155 at “you have hope”, down to 152 at “don’t bury your ability”, up to 153 at “letting you forget” etc. etc. and obviously a big jump from 160 to 178 at “look past your reflection”. This goes on through the entire song, sometimes with BPM changes as small as 1,2 or 3! Believing this could only be a “once-in-a-bandtime”-thing, I did the same with “Back Burner”. Same result! I was dumbfounded: How are these guys recording their music?? Do they plan out the songs’ BPMs for each of these little fractures and do as I do: set the click track to match the tiny fractures? That surely must be a lot of very precise work. And a very precise intention for the song-fractures must stand behind it all. Wow. Is that it? I’ve never heard of a band who do that. Well: I’ve never heard music like ABR’s music. And now that I’ve looked into this: hell, that’s why all these ABR song’s tempos feel so wobbly! Magic. Plus extra question: So I am turning to you for an answer: Can you explain how you do it? Especially the recording process in regards to click tracks. And: How does that shit work live on stage? I would love that.

Well. Massive thanks anyways for your unique way of creation. Much love, Ben

I remember back in h.s. (10+ years ago) when this video came out. My bass play came over (which he was a prep, unlike the rest of the band), he said "listen to this band bro". My 1st impression by the still frame on the computer screen was: Nooooo!!!! I saw two guys in polo shirts, "surfer" hair, I believe the bass player had rainbow flip flops on 😂. I just knew they were gonna suck. Then he hit play! 🤯 The rest is history🤘🏼. We seen them live. Drove to the city to buy their album when constellations came out. This was also the 1st song of theirs I learned on drums. Followed by Composure. Time flies!!!! Moral of the story I guess. Don't judge a book by its cover. 😅
