Like in Roman naming tradition, when fathers (or grandfathers) and their sons shared the same name they were delineated by "the Elder" and the son "the Younger". Think Pliny the Elder vs Pliny the Younger.

That very well could be. From Creation Myths comics and now from Netflix show we see it can also be a position rather than just a title... but still, we know nothing of of this one :D

I would say same but... Well... the Gelfling look like cats and that's my favorite animal. lol However, I have been going around trying to promote Podling Justista because I'm noticing that not enough people in the fandom seem to be all that interested in giving fair attention to their culture. We know a lot about the Gelflings and we are learning more about them every day. What we never seem to get focus on though are the Podlings.

Nothing official excepts some excerpts here and there in World of the Dark Crystal and the Novelization of the film. There was lots of fan discussion on it when the writers contest was taking place, but all those forums are deleted now. 3:04... PAUSED. Sir... Yes, the name does not sound like an Urskek, Skeksis or Mystic. It COULD be a Gelfling name. But no one ever seems to think that it is entirely possible that a Podling could do something like this as well. We assume they do nothing but roll in mud and party all the time... But what if that is not the case? I recognize that you made this video a year ago, so it would not be up to date with Age of Resistance but if I can use an example from that anyway... Hup. Hup is a Podling who is going out of his way to try to do something no other Podling has done. Is that not evidence that a Podling can also try to do something like this? What if the Elder's name is that of a Podling?

@@CosplayCore haha, great minds think alike. :) One more thing to note on "elder".... Creation Myths vol. III and Age of Resistance both show Gelfling that are directly called "elder". 🤔

@@CosplayCore that is a good problem. The Creation Myths box set (has all three volumes) is dropping Oct. 30th and I know you can still contact your local comic book shops and have them order you the regular volumes if you wanna just start off with 1.
